a Two-Wheeled Human Transportation System (2WHTS) was designed, implemented, controlled, and tested.
The 2WHTS is similar to the well-known "Segway”, however, the 2WHTS has different design and lower cost when compared to "Segway” The main target of developing such system is to use it for transportation, educational, and research purposes. One of the main challenges in developing such system is maintaining the balance of the entire vehicle spontaneously while moving. Therefore, a stabilizing cont
rol system was designed and implemented and appropriate sensors were carefully selected and mounted.

In general, the human's brain knows when the body is out of balance when the fluid in the inner ear shifts, then the brain triggers the human to put the leg forward and stop the fall. If the human keeps leaning forward, the brain keeps putting the leg forward to keep the body upright. Instead of falling, the human walks forward, one-step at a time. So, to achieve the self-balance in the 2WHTS, wheels are used instead of legs, motors instead of muscles, a microcontroller instead of the brain and a set of sophisticated tilt sensors instead of an inner-ear balancing system. Like the brain, the 2WHTS turns the wheels at just the right speed and direction to maintain balance. Thus, to move forward or backward, the rider leans slightly forward or backward and to turn left or right, the rider squeezes one of the cable levers on the handlebar.

Motivations and Features
- The 2WHTS represents a system that has zero-emission during operation compared to other transportation systems.
- The 2WHTS is the first innovative self-balanced robotic system to be built in Jordan and to be used for human transportation and would be the first step to encourage manufacturing such transportation vehicles in the Jordanian industry.
- The 2WHTS is an inclusive new technology so wide range of people can successfully use it, including people for whom walking a distance is a challenge.
- The 2WHTS can be used for many categories of community, starting with big institutions whether to improve employee productivity and response time or even to carry the equipments on it, in malls, factories and ending with individuals.
