Spanish Town Learning Institute (SLI) is a co-educational, multi-disciplinary, day and evening institute that is registered with the Ministry of Education (Independent Schools), approved by the National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET) and City & Guilds, London. Our institution has three departments which include:
A General Department— that offers Certificate
and Diploma courses in Vocational Nursing (Practical Nursing (Levels 1-3), Geriatric Nursing, basic and intermediate (level 2), and Early Childhood Education (Levels 1-3). There is also a pre-course programme (remedial English & Math) for wanting to qualify to pursue any of our courses or those who just need remedial help. A Department of Continuing Education—where we offer courses in An Introduction to Psychiatric Nursing, Psychiatric Aide, Information Technology, Phlebotomy, The Practical Nurse as a Leader, Child Care and other short courses that will come on stream from time to time. Placement Agency. Our Placement Agency functions as an adjunct to SLI and is currently not for profit. As a service to our graduates, we feel it an obligation to assist with job placement. Graduates are however encouraged to actively assist in the process. Courses offered and certification obtained are at national and international standards; and as such, graduates are eligible to work both locally and internationally and perform with distinction wherever they go. This is based on positive feedback received from both employers and graduates. Our graduates are devoted to improving the quality of life for all clients/residents/patients, gain respect of employers and co-workers and experience personal satisfaction. SLI is a viable option….and a precursor to further training in Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Information Technology and Medical Laboratory Technology. Classes are held on line and face to face. Practicals are in-house.
