Just like a building, reading needs a strong foundation. A big thank you to the team from Kemtek Development & Construction Limited who joined us for Read Across Jamaica Day, helping us build a love of reading from the ground up!

Christel House Jamaica is nurturing great citizens while breaking the cycle of poverty. We remove the barriers to education for students (K to 13) by adding:

✅ tuition
✅ transportation
✅ healthy meals
✅ uniforms, books and supplies
✅ five years of college and career counselling after high school graduation

Reading while building bridges 📚💙👮🏽‍♂️

We were thrilled to welcome the team from Central Village Police Station, who showed up in full force to celebrate Read Across Jamaica Day with our students.

DSP Fearon and her team brought stories to life for Grade 2 and Grade 6 students, proving that reading can connect communities!

It was a labour of love this Labour Day 💪🏽❤️ as members of CHJ PTA Committee were joined by staff for a meaningful day of service, beautifying Quarry Hill Community Centre, from the inside out! 🪏👥

It was a pleasure to host representatives from the National Education Inspectorate, including first-time visitors Colaine Swaby and Thadeous Donald, along with returning visitors Dr. Karah Whitter and Dr. Maureen Dwyer. 💙

Our students enjoyed a special Read Across Jamaica Day visit from representatives of Progressive Grocers of Jamaica Ltd. 📚✨

Sarah Norman, Aaliyah Henry, Alana Thompson, and Shamarley Hammond spent time reading and sharing stories with our Grade 6 Hibiscus students. The classic, Where the Wild Things Are, was a hit! 💙
