In today’s society, depression and suicidal thoughts are severely downplayed issues especially in the Jamaican society. It is taught and therefore expected that whenever we are going through our valleys and carrying our crosses/burdens that we ought not to show any sign of weakness or seek help if we are sad or feel overly burdened. In fact, when you seek help from most persons, their response(it’s more of a response than it is advice) will be “Yeah mon, it soon better, Gwan hold it fam. “ That’s good to be honest but where is the “My Brother, My Sister Mindset” whereby you make the attempt to find a place where they can get help or whatever it may be. We aren’t asking that you take up people problems as your own, but in the sake of love and humanity, do a little more. Far too long, we have been wanting and waiting for such a vehicle and its hasn’t arrive. As such we must be the change we want to see. PIJAM, isn’t the most known or well financed organization but we are focused on contributing to this cause of aiding persons who are depressed and do well with a shoulder to lean on or just get a ‘strength’ from a brother or sister. So if you are depressed, feeling down, feeling suicidal, or whatever it is that you need a trusted friend to talk with; Give us a DM, before you take action, because one of us may just have gone through what you are going through and have the remedy. Contact/refer us today.

Reaaaad

It is overwhelmingly disappointing that our nation; this great nation, has been overrun by wrongful doing and adapted a sinful nature. Never in a million years would we have thought that here in Jamaica our women would be under attack. It was unimaginable. Currently, on a daily basis a woman is taken and another woman is found dead or alive, bruised or battered or on the verge of death. It is tragic. In approximately 34 days, just a month and a few days into the new year that so many searches have been conducted and speeches have given and sleepless nights shouldered in a state of utter lost, graves being dug, tears rolling off ones cheek for the loss of a life mate with another tear trailing in swift succession and wounds that can never be healed have been inflicted whether sexually or physically have been endured.
Enough is enough!!!!!. We cannot allow criminal elements to take a stronghold in our country. We must pray but not only should we pray. We must ACT and act in a manner that seeks justice and raises awareness. No longer must we say that that is not our problem and it does not affect us. Simply because, one way or another it does affect you. It may not be directly but it does indirectly. It is time that if we see something, we say something. We must go back to the olden days when it was the community that grew the child. When ALL persons are responsible for the growth and development of our youths. We must take charge, we must act now! Speeches, condolences and sentimental remorse are simply not enough. Proactiveness by the citizens and law-enforcement officers and swift justice by the justice system is exactly what we need right now.
As a country; Jamaica. We have lost our way, we have been sidestepped by technology, as human beings we have lost all humanity. However, it is not too late for we're still alive and if we have life then it simply means that we have the ability to do great things and make amends in a conscious effort to make our country as best as it can be. Let us participate in Jamaica. Let us be our brother's keeper. Let us remain focused, let us remember the reason why we have here ; it is not to be selfish but to be selfless. If you see something, say something. If you can give a helping hand, give a helping hand. If you can make somebody smile, go ahead make them smile, it's free of cost its not illegal. LET US PARTICIPATE IN JAMAICA AND MAKE OUR COUNTRY THE BEST VERSION IT CAN BE.

Police officers are paid,doctors are paid, lawyers are paid, ambulance staff are paid and elected government officials are paid. All these persons listed are by some extent a part of the response team that is activated when someone involuntarily goes over the Bog Walk Gorge. Well, all persons that is except for "The True First Responders." THE DIVERS. Sacrificial human beings like Samuel Dixon and Dwayne Stapleton amongst several females and other unsung heroes. These are persons who without thinking twice dives 🏊🏾deep into the water in an attempt to save somebody (perhaps one day me or you) who accidentally took the plunge and is sinking helplessly to the bottom of a dark,cold, unforgiving river.
Our view at the Participate in Jamaica movement is that there must be some provisions that are put in place to reward and encourage these sacrificial beings to keep doing good. These provisions can be in the form of:
1. 📝Having the divers trained and certified.
2. 📝Providing the divers with the adequate equipment they need in order to continue saving persons life. This may come in the form of ropes, scuba gears resuscitation kits,etc.
3. 📝A monthly stipend/salary from the mayors office.
4. 📝Acknowledgment and proper recognition for a good job done at least once annually.
In such a world where persons are focused on themselves. Let us encourage those who are doing good to keep on doing good.

Why do you clean-up and plant gardens when they will be messy and trampled on respectively. Isn't it a waste of time. Huh huh? Help yourself.

That right there is a problem. We have a solution. Join us and make Jamaica a much more sensitized island. One less bottle one less flooded drain. One more garden, one more peaceful mind. Plus that isn't a quarter of what we do. We have:
1. mentorship programs,
2. back to school treats
3. Employment creation
4. Youth Advocacy
5. Youth Groups
6. Youth empowerment
7. Book food and clothe drive
8. Community Outreach Programs
9. Mosquito Eradication Programs
10. Etc
That is why we do it, because we know we can make Jamaica a better place. It starts with us. So instead of wasting your time trying to stop us. Join us or watch us."
