The main objectives of the Disabilities Act are to:
Encourage all Jamaicans to recognize and accept the principle that persons with disabilities have the same fundamental rights as any other person.
Promote individual dignity, freedom of choice, and independence, of persons with disabilities.
Make sure that persons with disabilities are able to take part effectively and are included on an equal basis with others in all aspects of national life.
Prevent or prohibit discrimination against PWDs
Promote acceptance of persons with disabilities and respect for their differences as human beings.

How can you help?
1. Educate yourself on the act. Visit the websites of either the JCPD, the MLSS, the JIS, or any other organization with which you are familiar.
2. If you know anybody with a disability encourage them to register with the JCPD or at any NIS office.
3. If you own or operate businesses work towards making them friendly for persons with disabilities.
4. Work towards making rented spaces accessible for PWDs.
5. Use positive language when speaking with or referring to PWDs
6. Encourage and facilitate the employment of PWDs on merit.

For Autism Awareness month we celebrated under the theme " Inform to Change"....

The sensory movie is a movie viewing with some adjustments. There is low lighting versus darkness, lowered volume and silence is not a requirement. This way parents can feel comfortable that no matter what happens there will be no one coming to es**rt you outside :)
