From the begining the Chess Team has been doing their best and progressing. However, today, the club faced its first major set back. After traveling for over 2 and a half hours, and reaching the destination of St Cathrine High School, the match played against St. Jago A (team), was sadly lost. After battling through with the opponents, being pressed for time, and arriving late due to unforseen circumstances, The Chess Team was knocked out of the Round of 16. The Club on a whole will like to congratulate Shashank Sablani, Rashid Davis, Richardo Barnaby and Quardin Lyttle for their sincere efforts.
The club sympathizes with Shashank Sabalni, Rashid Davis and Tedale Simpson for having their last year at Cornwall College with the Chess Club end on this note, to not have progressed further into the competition. However, the club is grateful for their membership and participance, and they themselve have admitted to still feeling good about the entire competition on a whole. The Club also wishes to thank Mr. Everard Prout, our staff advisor, who has guided and assisted the club in what ever way he could.
Thank you to all our supports as well, we appreciate all the encouragment that has been given along the way.
With This the club prepares for next year's tournament.

Just a regular meeting, nothing much happened today, Just the arrival of the new pins. Oh! and we introduced blitz matches to the new members.
A correction to the previous announcement (and additional information). Thanks to clarification from the hosts of the Chess Championships. The chess team has advanced to the Round of 16, and will play St Jago A team on February 6, 2015 at St. Cathrine Highschool. The team will be playing Black on Board One.
The Cornwall College Chess Club played in the Second Round Playoffs and qualified for the Quater Finals of the National Highscools Chess Championships 2014/2015.
Though the team has qualified, it has become more apparent than ever that it needs to strive and become stronger in order to maintain its place within the competition. The support and encouragement of the club and even more specifically the team members is always welcomed as serious training sessions will begin to take place.
Anyone capable of becoming chess mentors for the team (and to a larger extent the club) are asked to please contact this page, the club president- Quardin Lyttle ([email protected]), the staff advisor- Everard Prout ([email protected]) or the school.
It only gets tougher from here!
