Why do we keep searching for a Leader when we have King Jesus?
by Peter Burnett
The Messianic claims of Jesus Christ are still being overlooked in homes, on Main Street, in board rooms and legislatures across the world. The reasons vary. Some don’t like Jesus as the Answer, they don’t like the person or persons giving the answer, they don’t know that the answer was given (the search is over) or they just don’t want to give up the search (it gives them control).
The many political, economic, social and religious movements organized across the world, in every language and culture, all seek proactive and solutions -driven leadership. In fact many would claim a willingness to sacrifice their own lives in search of the greater good. But what if that answer was already given?
“The women were frightened and bowed their faces toward the ground, but the men (angels) said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5 CEB). That is the question for those of us who are now living in 2026 AD (Anno Domini - in the year of our Lord).
Jesus Christ already presented Himself as the Messiah and Leader that the world has been searching for. I agree with Him. Many have. Consequently, our search ended and life began. We have found The Leader. Christ is King.
Jesus Christ and His claim can no longer be crucified, buried, ignored nor cancelled. His love and truth keeps bubbling up in unexpected places. Life in Him is being lived with one simple unifying intention; WWJD - What Would Jesus Do. It is happening. The amazing results can be seen cross-culturally. The Messianic rule of Jesus Christ will eventually cover the earth, bringing righteousness (justice), peace and joy.
So, if we ignore the Messiah, who will replace Him? If we ignore the answer, the question remains, but so does the Answer.
Today, our pride is being challenged. It is decision time. We can’t say that we don’t know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the answer the world has been searching for. The question is whether or not we will keep downplaying, dodging, denying, deflecting, and debating the Answer, while we keep searching and designing the answer we want? Apply Jesus.
