A batch of mycorrhiza inoculated soil that goes into our organic potting mix. Mycorrhiza species are symbiotic fungi that colonize the roots of plants and act as a facilitator between the roots and the nutrients in the soil around them. There are many different species and subspecies of mycorrhizal fungi, but they all benefit the host plants by breaking down nutrients in the soil that the plant cannot easily absorb and converting them into more accessible forms, while acting as an extension of the plants roots allowing for even more nutrients to enter the plant. Our mycorrhizal species are harvested from heavily forested areas on Green Castle Estates 1600 acre eco resort and propagated on native grassroots. Jamaica has long been known for its fertility and research is pointing towards mycorrhizal fungi playing a major role in that fertility.
So when you purchase a plant from us you not only get an exotic and vibrant plant but also a host of beneficial fungi to colonize and improve your garden!
