With a total of 21, Jamaica had its largest delegation to a finals of the World Robot Olympiad so far. People kept asking "21 people for one team!?" and yes, that's how we keep the one love strong. Kudos to the parents and families of Reach Academy for their investment, commitment and excitement.

WRO 2021 theme: PowerBots - The Future of Energy
▫️
Since the industrial revolution, we have been using a lot of fossil fuels. Many people now realize that we cannot do that forever. We need to use more clean and renewable energy.
◽️
Renewable Energy comes from sources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. WRO Teams will be asked to solve new challenges that come from using Renewable Energy.
▫️
Games & Rules for “PowerBots - The Future of Energy” will be released on January 15, 2021, 10am CET.

Teachers in the WRO Jamaica Coaches workshop are practicing how to break up the robot mission into smaller pieces. With each iteration and repeated attempt to solve the problem, they apply deduction and increase the precision of the numbers and hence the accuracy of the code created for the robot.

So great to watch these teachers from Grange Hill share knowledge and problem solve collaboratively.

In 2018, Kingston College (KC) took 2nd place in the U16 section of the WRO Jamaica. Though they were down one member, the two young men banded together and built and programmed their robot to deliver a consistent score. This performance took them through the preliminaries and into the finals as one of the top 3 teams.

In the finals, the KC robotics team continued what was one of the most memorable runs in the inaugural staging of WRO Jamaica. They led after Round 1. They led after Round 2. In the final round, the KC robotics team had victory in sight right up to the final seconds, but had to settle for 2nd place. What will the brave ones do this year?
