Executive Director of the National Education Trust (NET), Latoya Harris-Ghartey, is on the ground at Middle Quarters Primary School in St. Elizabeth, engaging with the school community and reviewing the progress of works being undertaken in support of the institution ahead of the new academic year.

With schools reopening on Monday, NET continues to maintain an active presence across beneficiary schools, working alongside key stakeholders to support improved learning environments for Jamaica’s students.

Rebuilding After Hurricane Melissa 🇯🇲🏫

At the Strawberry Primary & Infant School, the post-Hurricane Melissa rebuilding efforts of the National Education Trust (NET) are helping the school recover after sections of its roofing and several windows were damaged during the hurricane.

Principal Mr. Travert Clarke expressed his gratitude for the intervention of NET, commending the speed at which support was mobilised to begin the recovery process. He also welcomed the commitment of NET to replace the school’s chicken coop, which was destroyed during the hurricane and previously supported its canteen programme. 📚✨

As part of its ongoing post-Hurricane Melissa rebuilding efforts, the National Education Trust (NET) continues to advance infrastructure development works at the school.

Mr. Travert Clarke, Principal of Strawberry Primary and Infant School, testifies to the transformative investments made in the institution. From a new roof and windows to the complete rehabilitation of the infant school building, these improvements are creating a safer, more comfortable environment for students and staff.

And there’s more to come! Plans are underway for a state-of-the-art library and the complete reconstruction of the school’s chicken coop- supporting the school kitchen and strengthening its drive towards self-sustainability.

At Rusea’s High School in Hanover, the post-Hurricane Melissa rebuilding efforts of NET are helping students return to safe and functional learning spaces.

Principal Mrs. Donna Anderson expressed gratitude for the restoration of roofs across several areas of the school, including the Science Block, Main Campus and Grade Seven Block — works that helped the school accommodate all students for their internal examinations. 📚✨
