Jamaican Institute of Architects The Jamaican Institute of Architects hosts a number of programmes annually including Continuing Professional Development seminars for Architects.

The Jamaican Institute of Architects (JIA) is a non-government professional body that seeks to promote and celebrate the role of Architecture in the development of the built environment in Jamaica. As well the JIA, through its members, participates in Career's Day, held at a number of high & secondary schools across the island. The JIA members sit on a variety of governmental boards and institutio

ns, including the Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT), the Kingston & St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA), the Energy Council, the Beach Control Authority as well as the Architects Registration Board (ARB). The JIA holds meetings for its members every quarter.

The Jamaican Institute of Architects (JIA) is pleased to present an in-person training session hosted by Berger Paints Jamaica Limited. Entitled, “Weatherproofing Solutions for Sustainable Buildings: The Role of Advanced Exterior Coatings,” the training seminar aims to provide architects and designers with the skills to specify high performance and durable finish coatings for building envelopes, to guard against harsh environmental factors namely UV radiation, moisture, temperature fluctuations, and biological growth.

We were happy to join Wolmer’s Boys’ School Career Day on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 — thank you to the students and staff for the warm welcome. Architect Francois Munda represented the Jamaican Institute of Architects (JIA), sharing practical insights and hands-on advice about architecture as a creative, technical, and community-focused career. Our Vice President similarly attended Mona High School’s careers day the following day (16 April 2026), continuing our commitment to outreach and mentoring our young people across Jamaica.
