What keeps you up at night? 🌜

There are SO many things that scare me like:
- Calling to order a 🍕 pizza
- Going to an event alone
- Scuba diving
- Cockroaches 👀

Yup, I’m basically afraid of everything 🙈.

But what often keeps me up at night are my dreams and whether or not I’ll be able to accomplish them. What if I put in all this effort and it doesn’t work out? Actually, I’m not even sure WHAT will work.

If you’re learning a language then you know the language journey doesn’t really have an “end” per se. There’s always something to learn and you start wondering when you’ll get to the point where you can feel comfortable doing whatever you wanna do in the language.

Although I’m not the biggest Steve Jobs fan, I do appreciate this quote, “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.”

What gives you hope? What gives you that unyielding determination to keep going despite all the setbacks and heartbreak?

How do you handle overwhelm?

You would think that because of all the technological advances which exist today that life would be easier and simpler. However, I find it quite the opposite. In fact, technology has given us more choices than ever before and I often feel this pressure to do/accomplish everything at once.

When this happens, one of my high-school lit teachers comes to mind. She would often say, “Eat the elephant one bite at a time”.

Although the world is telling us we must have/be/do everything, it’s important to take only what’s right for us in this present moment. Or, break down those bigger dreams/ goals into smaller, manageable chunks.

The same goes for language learning. There is so much to learn and it can seem like a never-ending journey. If you keep eating a bit of that “English” elephant every day, then eventually it’s all gonna be gone.

Post an elephant in the comments if you agree 🐘

P.S. Let’s imagine that elephant is not alive and instead is made of chocolate 🍫. Deal? Cool.

Winner winner Chicken Dinner!

This phrase is sometimes used when celebrating a victory or when you feel like you are getting a good deal.

Would you use this phrase 🤔? Let me know in the comments.

Oh You Salty!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We all know this word in relation to cooking or describing food. However, what about if someone calls you "salty"?

If you are salty, it means that you are feeling upset or bitter due to jealousy, annoyance or embarrassment caused by someone else.

For example:

1. Your boss gave your coworker a promotion instead of you even though you work twice as hard, have more experience and better ideas.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Your mother was right about you breaking up with your girlfriend after 2 months despite your insistence that the relationship would last.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Your friend accompanied you to a movie audition and got the role instead of you.

In all of the above scenarios, you would feel "salty".

Have you ever been salty? Comment below.

I find that just starting a task - even if it's just for 5 minutes- helps me to overcome procrastination.
