Duff's Business College Jamaica

Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen:

I've read all the postings of queries and concerns with regards to Duff's Business College. It is not fully confirmed as yet, but Duff's may no longer be in operation. If you've visited the location and/or called the school number without any response then it is safe to assume that Mrs. Hall has given up.

Again, I started this page to aid the school enrollment numbers as well as, assist in handling queries and complaints. I've posted on this page over and over that the school is experiencing financial difficulties. For those who are seeking transcripts and/or certificates I cannot assist you in obtaining such if the school is no longer in operation.

I regret having to be the bearer of bad news, and I apologize to those who have started training with the school. As soon as I've established contact with Mrs. Hall, I will update you further.

I've been away for some time from this page so I'm just seeing all the messages. I have no new information to share at this time, but as soon as I speak with Mrs. Hall, I will pass on the relevant information to you all.

This evening I received a message from a past student who left the following comment:

"Whom ever created this page needs to wake it up some more the Duff's that I attended was vibrant."

While I agree with this past student's comment I urged he/she to volunteer his/her services. I find as human beings we are quicker to find faults, but slower to help.

I went to Duff's Business College in 1998 and the Duff's I knew, remembered and love hardly exists anymore. So much has changed -- the location, the caliber of students who want to attend Duffs, the drive and dedication of the students to see a 1 year six moths course through to the end, knowing the Diploma is worth it. And I could gladly sit on the sidelines and toss comments just like anyone, but I chose to help in the way I could.

Duff's has no internet service, so who is willing to manage this page for Mrs. Hall? Who is willing to go see Mrs. Hall or call her regularly to hear what course's are being offered? And who is willing to talk to her and let her vent for the sake of her sanity, offer solutions? I've asked for pictures from past students and no response. Who is willing to collect the photos she has of past students, scan them and add them here?

Well I dare say, until you are all falling over each other to help you criticism isn't welcomed. I want suggestions and volunteers. Minister Portia Simpson-Miller doesn't run this country by herself, she has support. Thank you.

Good evening ladies!! Just got off the phone from talking to Mrs. Hall, and she's back in office just like I expected. All prospective students feel free to stop by the school and register for the following courses:

Secretarial Studies - Diploma
Accounting & Management - Diploma
Shorthand - Certificate
Typing - Certificate

We also offer remedial classes for students with problems in English Grammar.

Duff's has produced many great ladies and I'm glad to be a Duff's old girl (big smile). Ladies you can do anything you put you mind to and only you can limit yourself through your thinking. Think big, think huge, think great!!!

Good morning Ladies!!!!

I know many of you ladies will remember Mrs. Hall whose responsible for teaching Dictation and Transcription as well as, Speed typing. She's come a long way from teaching to now running the school herself.

Ladies, I just want you all to remember her in your prayers today as she's going through a lot today. A few years ago she met into an accident that broke her hip and over time has fallen down few times, no doubt making things worse. Through it all she's still going strong and trying hard to keep the doors of Duff's Business College open.

I spoke to her in the week and life has dealt her another blow. She has lost her husband and need a little time away from the school to deal with her loss as well as, to put things into perspective where the school is concern. If you can remember Mrs. Hall then you will know that her husband was always by her side, and now with his passing it will be difficult for her to get around.

That said, we will not be registering any new students for this term. She is still a fighter and I am happy to know such a spirit. When I spoke to her and offered my condolences she told me that it is a lot to deal with, and that she will register students for the Easter term. I know many will be disappointed but the reality is that she needs this time away from it all.

I know her very well and i know she will be back in form in no time. Please bear with us during this time of bereavement. I do apologize for the inconvenience her absence will cause. Thank you very mush for your patience and understanding.

Yesterday the pioneer of shorthand training and court reporting Mr. Fitz-Henley passed away. Another great one who has worked tirelessly is now resting in the arms of his makes.

Today I got read a mouthful from someone who left a message on this page and I need to make a few things clear.

1. This page is managed by me Fiona Pryce, a graduate who saw the passion Mrs. Hall as demonstrated where the school is concerned, and just want to aid her as much as I can.
2. I've said before that out school is struggling to keep its doors open because of a number of issues.

Now, who wants to step forward and build a website for Duff's Business College? I really can't do everything myself and I am doing what I can do, before willing and ready to find faults call the school and offer to help. I've asked for photographs and no one has submitted any.
