UWI Mona’s Admissions & International Students Office joined forces with the UWI Star program at the 2026 JDF Jamaica Military Museum & Library Open Day, where we had the opportunity to connect with students from all levels basic, primary and secondary. On site was our Exchange Student Coordinator, Ms. Daviha Williams.

Our booth was a hub of excitement, offering information about academic opportunities, campus life, and the diverse support available for students to study overseeas through our exchange progra.

We kicked off the semester with a special orientation tailored for our regional and international students! 🎉

This exciting program gave them a chance to learn how to navigate the UWI campus and the wider island of Jamaica, ensuring they feel at home from day one 🌍. Alongside essential info about adjusting to life in a new country, managing finances, and understanding their visa and stay extensions, students also got a taste of Jamaica 🇯🇲 with delicious local dishes like jerk chicken, bammy, and ackee & saltfish 🥘.

The fun continued the next day with a shopping trip 🛍️, where they got to explore and pick up essentials for their time here. At our booth during General Orientation, students discovered the incredible Exchange Student Programs and global opportunities available to them during their studies!

On July 18th, we had the pleasure of hosting 32 students, parents, and staff from School of the Nations, Guyana 🇬🇾 for an exciting campus visit to UWI Mona! 🎓✨

Their journey began with an engaging session at the Faculty of Social Sciences , followed by a walk through Medical Sciences , a scenic trip along the Ring Road , and visits to key facilities including the UWI Museum 🏛️ and the legendary Usain Bolt Track 🏃‍♂️💨.

It was a day filled with curiosity, learning, and inspiration we hope to welcome some of you back as future Pelicans!
