What does it truly mean to be a man?
That question was at the heart of Big Man Ting, an engaging and thought-provoking forum hosted at the Caribbean Military Academy for its servicemen.
The initiative, a collaborative effort between the Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA) and the JDF Gender Advisory Network, led by the CMA Gender Advisor, invited participants to examine contemporary concepts of masculinity, leadership, emotional intelligence, healthy relationships and personal responsibility.
Through candid conversations and meaningful dialogue, the forum challenged harmful stereotypes and encouraged a more positive vision of manhood—one grounded in respect, accountability, empathy and service.
As part of wider efforts to promote positive masculinity and address gender-based violence, the session underscored the critical role men and boys play in shaping safer families, stronger institutions and more resilient communities.
