Cumberland High School Jamaica

On Thursday, November 23, Grade 10 hosted their symposium entitled Educate Me:Protect Me, focusing on drug trafficking and offences against the person.

Cumberland High is fully committed to preparing our youngsters to navigate the dangers of the realities they face.

PARTNERSHIP FOR SUCCESS - CARIBBEAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY & CUMBERLAND HIGH

Over 70 students are enrolled in a special joint program between both institutions. The students are full students of Cumberland High, but wear the uniform of the CMI, along with the Cumberland Crest. They are exposed to strategically selected courses from CMI, delivered both at Cumberland and sometimes on the CMI campus.

This initiative promises great things as we prepare our students for an ever- changing work environment.

On September 19, 2017, the Minister of Education The. Hon. Ruel Reid was in full flow at Cumberland High School as he taught a Grade 7 class, as a part of the World's Largest Lesson exercise. The focus was on Sustainable Development Goals, and specifically Food Sustainability.

Accompanying him were other Ministry officials and UNICEF personnel.

Cumberland High was very proud to welcome Professor George Sugai, co-director of the National Center on Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports in the USA.

He lauded the school for the impressive work being done with the SWPBIS programme, under the leadership of Vice-Principal Mrs. Maureen Nelson.

Accompanying him were persons from the Ministry of Education's Region 6.

Grade 7 students and teachers visited the Bank of Jamaica, The Institute of Jamaica and the National Heroes Park. Taking learning outside of the regular classroom is always such fun!
