Victoria College Open Evening - Thursday 1 October from 4.30pm

The Combined Cadet Force had a fantastic day volunteering at the Jersey International Air Display yesterday and fundraising for the Royal Air Force Association.

Earlier in the week Sgt Gibaut (IC of the RAF Section) had an opportunity to experience a Catalina flight, and some of our cadets were able to meet a member of the Red Arrows team.

Year 12 Induction took place yesterday, and it was fantastic to welcome our students back to school. Throughout the day, we explored what makes Sixth Form different, with a strong emphasis on attitude, high standards, and the expectations that come with this exciting new stage of their education.

The students heard from Mrs Flack about how to maximise their learning potential, while our guest speaker, Royston Guest, inspired them to aim high, think ambitiously, and remain focused on their goals.

Following a wonderful lunch provided by Rigatoni, students took part in a range of team-building activities, including a scavenger hunt and 'The Floor is Lava', led by Mr Wooldridge and Mr Townsend.

We hope the day left them feeling confident and prepared for their first official day on Friday. More importantly, we hope they understand the significance of their role as leaders and role models within the school community, and the mindset shift required for success in Sixth Form: one built on personal responsibility, independence, and humility.

Over the summer, Victoria College pupil, Monty, completed his striking mural, 'Handing Over the Sunset', after winning the Ocean Culture Life competition.

Created through Art in the Arches, ArtHouse Jersey's public art project that has transformed the arches of Elizabeth Marina into a vibrant open-air gallery featuring local artists' large-scale murals, Monty's work is now part of Jersey's cultural landscape.

A special thank you goes to local artist and Old Victorian, Max Corbett, who generously dedicated his time to mentoring Monty throughout the project. Working side by side over six afternoons, Max shared his expertise, encouragement and passion for art, helping Monty bring his vision to life.

The mural's unveiling attracted significant public interest, with Monty even being interviewed by local media. Congratulations to Monty on this fantastic achievement, and thank you to Max, ArtHouse Jersey and Ocean Culture life for making this incredible opportunity possible.

A new school year begins at Victoria College.

Over the summer, our site and IT teams, alongside a range of contractors, have delivered an exciting programme of improvements across the College, including refurbished learning spaces, upgraded digital infrastructure, new interactive teaching technology, enhanced sports facilities, significant developments in our Art and Sixth Form areas, and the continued progress of our new Reception building. These investments ensure our environment matches the high standards we aspire to for every student.

Today our staff came together for the first of our INSET days, focused on the priorities that will shape the year ahead. We are strengthening consistency in teaching, learning and behaviour through a clear framework for effective and inclusive classroom practice, while continuing to invest in both technology and professional learning opportunities for staff. This reflects our commitment to high-quality teaching, inclusive support and ensuring the very best outcomes for every student.

As we begin our 175th anniversary year, our focus remains clear: creating an exciting place to learn and grow, fostering a culture of kindness so that every member of our community feels valued, included and supported, and ensuring Victoria College remains a rewarding place to teach and work. We look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday to another year of opportunity, achievement and success.

Congratulations to our Year 11 students on an outstanding set of GCSE results!

This year's cohort achieved record-breaking top grades, with 32% of all grades awarded at 9-8 and almost half (49%) at 9-7, representing the strongest performance in this band in five years. We also recorded a five-year high for Grades 9-6, which accounted for 71% of all results.

We look forward to welcoming in Year 11 students from 08.30 on Thursday (20 Aug) to receive their GCSE results in the Great Hall. Members of staff will be on hand to support.

Please note that due to ongoing roadworks, access to College is via Mont Millais only. Vehicle access from the Five Oaks direction is closed.

Victoria College Sixth Form students collected their A Level and other Level 3 qualification results this morning, with 97% of students securing their first or insurance choice destination.

Prior to any reviews or resits, the College achieved 12% A*, 30% A*-A, 56% A*-B, 81% A*-C and a 99% pass rate. Congratulations to all students on their hard work, determination and success.
