A week of mixed emotions here. It was time to say goodbye to my Dynamic Duo, the partners in crime! It's always sad to say goodbye to children who have been part of my family for the past few years, but I know they are ready for their next adventure.
I also welcomed the next generation of little people. We have had two fabulous mornings getting to know each other, and I am excited for our adventures to begin!

This is a great little video for those with young children to help them understand what's happening in the world at the moment.

ROBert explains the corona virus to children | PLAYMOBIL The whole world is talking about the corona virus. Daycares and schools have closed, and children are asking a lot of questions. This movie uses PLAYMOBIL to...

We have had a lovely day today celebrating Chinese New Year with friends. We have practised our fine and gross motor skills, watched a dragon dance, painted our own lanterns, and tried chinese food. 😊

This is something I've preached about for years! Whenever I see someone 'dangling' a baby by the hands thinking they are helping them learn to walk, I have to bite my tongue! This article makes a lot of very good points regarding eating and feeding, but did you also know that the bilateral reciprocal motion of crawling helps the two hemispheres of the brain to talk to each other? And build new neural pathways? As an early years teacher it was more common to see those children who didn't crawl need OT support for movement and sensory disorders, as well as dyslexia and ASD. Keep them crawling for as long as possible!

This little set up here is a work of art in progress, many hours of play and learning, spanning over a week, have gone into it's creation. Themes such as bravery, friendships, families, good Vs bad, making choices, have featured heavily, not to mention the number of skills- fine motor & balance, perseverance, teamwork and conflict resolution have also been at play, as well as descriptive language, narrative, counting, shape recognition... the list continues.

THIS is what quality learning looks like in the Early Years, not sitting at desks doing worksheets to teach a 3 year old how to write.

Dear parents & carers.

We are utterly inspired by The Curiosity Approach and can see the incredible value of authentic resources. Allowing children to create their own stories & used to ignite imagination, curiosity, creativity, communication & language in Early years.

To fill our setting with an autumnal feel & allow children to discuss nature, animals & the changing season. πŸ¦‰πŸπŸ¦”πŸΏ

We support children to handle items carefully, understanding consequences & respect for items.
It’s all part of their learning journey. πŸ’•

We are on the hunt for
Ceramic, brass and wooden items.
Wicker baskets, mug trees & curtain rings.
Marble eggs & anything that sparks Curiosity in our young children.

Especially anything with a woodland or autumnal feel πŸ¦‰πŸ¦”πŸΏπŸπŸ¦‘

Can you help us ?
Do you have any items you could donate ?

Here are some examples from The Curiosity Approach who went on a carboot hunt recently. 😍

Thank you in advance x
