BASI Legacy - Mentor Program Cape Town
❤️
It’s hard to put into words the magic from the last 3 days but I will try.
Every time I return to BASI for further education, I truly feel like coming home.
The precision, the depth of knowledge and strength behind the advanced pilates work is not only humbling but this has renewed my respect for the fundamental work and has inspired me to stay true to my beliefs.
Pilates is not about pulses, or balls or “fun variations”. It is complete co-ordination of mind, body and spirit (and years of persistence!) to dive deeper into Joseph Pilates and Rael’s work.
If you have done a group BASI class, you understand the magic of moving as one, I had goosebumps.
🩵 Inspired by each and every person in my group, new friendships made and so happy to meet other instructors in my new home town.
I must thank everyone who has been a part of my journey, I will continue to make it my life’s work. Thank you 🙏🏻

*Non-Pilates Content Alert*
After a few months of being awol, I thought I would share some of my views over the last month settling into my new home.
My movement has consisted of hikes, swims and stretching. But more importantly eating, drinking and exploring 😉
Missing my pilates pals like mad but enjoying the adventure.
I hope you’re all keeping well 😘
Lots of love,

Where do I begin…
🍁🍂 As we approach this new season, I approach a new season in my life.
💭 The last 2 and a half years have been nothing but joyful. When the pandemic hit and I returned to Jersey, I had no idea where my career or life was headed. and invited me to teach in St.Ouens and it was the biggest gift they could have given me. Not just a job, but a community and guidance and friendship.
We’ve been through lockdowns and social distancing and was born.
My time here would not have been what is has without these girls and and .
So much laughter and some serious burns 🔥
Thank you Ouen Tribe for joining me in class whether it was 1 class or on a weekly basis, I cannot express how much I will miss you all.
The space that has created is pure magic ✨ and for those that have spent time in that space, you know what I mean. There aren’t enough words to thank you for being a constant support during my time here. (I’m going to have serious fomo)
For now, I will be taking some time off to settle into my new home, but if you want some travel spam, follow .
🤸🏼♂️
Thank you to the extended pilates and dance community in Jersey for the support. Thank you to Narelle for giving my Mat Class a home for the last two years and to and for inviting me to teach at Strive. Such incredible memories that I will cherish.
Thank you to all the dance schools and production companies I’ve worked with to keep my first love of dance alive 💃🏼
Take care, keep moving and keep smiling,
V xx

The news is out!! 📣
🇿🇦
It’s time for me to continue globe trotting as I take my Teasers to South Africa in September.
Right now it’s hard to put into words the emotions that come with leaving this incredible community in Jersey. Serious gratitude for this chapter, the Universe had so much lined up for me I didn’t see coming.
The pandemic, which I know created so much suffering and anguish for so many people, changed the course of my life to meet my soul mate.
🤸🏼♀️
There’s still a couple of weeks to pop into classes before I finish at the end of the month.
Here’s where you can find me:
▪️Reformer Classes at
▫️ Mat Classes (Mon&Fri) at
▪️ Mat Class (Tues) at
(Pre-book via my email)
Wednesday Wiggle ✨
Moving without a plan and letting the creativity flow
Standing Pilates 💫
It can be a little scary standing on the reformer for the first time. There are so many benefits of moving on an unstable surface - increased proprioception, strengthening stabilising muscles, improved balance just to name a few.
🤸🏼♀️
At there are 3 levels of classes - Technique, Technique Plus and Power.
All designed to help you grow in strength and confidence to progress to more challenging variations but most importantly, making sure you feel safe and in control in the process.
🔥
Inspired by to do this standing flow 😅 wow what a challenge.
Things I found tricky were:
🔸Maintaining the integrity of the chest expansion
🔸 Stepping behind (similar feeling to forward lunge on the winds chair)
Thank you Nick!
The Crab 🦀
Rediscovered this exercise with a friend last week..
One of Joseph Pilates OG exercises - a combination of rolling technique, roll over technique added with co-ordination and some neck and thoracic flexion.
For someone who broke their neck many moons ago, I was tentative coming into this exercise when I started my training.
I don’t teach this often, as it’s not suitable for people who struggle with spinal flexibility or pressure into the neck and shoulders, plus kneeling over the calves can be ouchyyyy.
🦀
Loved exploring this again. I’ve added a little pause (control balance style) at the back for added Ab work.
🤸🏼♀️
What’s your favourite OG pilates exercise??
𝕁𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕞𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕞𝕪 𝕗𝕠𝕒𝕞 𝕣𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕣…
Taking some time to move in between clients.
💭 Let’s talk injury rehab/post-op movement..
I think it’s time to change our mindset from “I want to get back to where I was before my injury/operation” and move towards “let’s get the best of this *insert body part here* moving in the best way it can”.
Chances are that body part won’t ever move “like it used to” but you find the wins by celebrating the movement you Can find!
I am 2 years and 5 months post shoulder injury. My range is different, I feel different muscles engage on each side…BUT… I have full ROM, I have more strength than I used to, even if I do still feels the effects of muscle soreness/weakness the next day.
ᴀᴄᴄᴇᴘᴛ the things you can’t change (the injury) and ᴄᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀᴛᴇ the things you can (the way you approach movement).
💭 How has your body responded post injury/op?

Playtime means finding new flows like this Back Support ➡️ Tendon Stretch variation
Adding some dancey stretches to see if I still can 👵🏻🤣
