Today, we celebrate and support International Women’s Day and the focus this year to Accelerate Action for gender equality.

Recognising the importance of championing diversity and equality, the IoD Jersey was grateful to recently speak with Kim Royle who took time to share insights into her career journey in business as the HR Director with Romerils, and Chair of the IoD Jersey Sponsorship Sub-Committee

The Leadership Lens survey results are in!

Jersey’s business community has serious concerns about economic conditions, government strategy, and the rising cost of living, according to the latest IoD Jersey Leadership Lens survey, supported by the Jersey Chamber of Commerce.

Despite these concerns, some businesses - particularly in financial services, information and communication, and professional services - expect stability or modest growth. Clear strengths to be leveraged include Jersey's skilled and experienced workforce, proximity to crucial markets and digital capabilities.

The findings will further inform discussions at the IoD Jersey debate on 24 April, where journalist Natasha Kaplinsky will join industry leaders to examine solutions for the island’s economic challenges. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Charity Launch Drinks and Canapés event on Wednesday. It was great to connect with peers, share insights, and reaffirm our commitment to better directorship.

Setting Ambitious Objectives for a Competitive Jersey in 2025

The IoD Jersey committee has set some challenging and ambitious objectives for the year ahead. With the elections less than 18 months away, we are focused on preparing a manifesto that reflects our members' vision for a competitive Jersey.

Our approach is methodical and data-driven. To better understand the current state of Jersey’s economy, we are gathering insights from our members, as well as from the Chamber of Commerce, Jersey Business, and Digital Jersey, who have generously agreed to assist. This data will be collected through a survey on economic confidence, alongside questions addressing concerns that reveal the true picture of our economic landscape.

🗓 Mark your calendars!
On 24 April, we will host a debate focused on a SWOT analysis of our island. We’ll explore the strengths that we can leverage into opportunities and identify the weaknesses that may threaten the sustainability of our economy. Further details of the event will be shared soon.

💡 Following the debate, we will establish working groups to develop a vision and strategy for Jersey through the lens of our members. The outcome of this process will be pivotal in informing a manifesto that we hope will guide and influence candidates in the upcoming election and beyond, helping to sustain and grow our island economy.
