BCIT Learning Commons offers FREE services to help students succeed:
Peer tutors are experienced BCIT students who can help you succeed! They are available on a drop-in basis 6 days per week to:
•Help you learn and apply new concepts in courses such as Business Math, Accounting, Economics, Business Information Systems, and Organizational Behaviour
•Share learning strategies that have helped them succeed
Bring your questions and start working with them early in term!
Peer Writing Tutors are available in 30-minute increments 7 days/week after classes on weekdays and from 1-3 pm on weekends – book an appointment online or drop in with your assignment description and completed draft. Book your appointments at https://studyrooms.lib.bcit.ca. You can consult a peer tutor up to three times on the same assignment as your draft improves.
WriteAway online writing support - Submit a draft assignment for feedback and get a reply within 48 hours. Click on http://writeaway.bceln.ca/, then “Connect with a Tutor” and select “BCIT”, and you’re on your way to getting support with your writing. These peer tutors can also revisit your assignments up to three times!
Learning Seminars - Learn how to learn effectively and efficiently at BCIT. Talk to a learning specialist, tutors and other students about common issues you are facing.
The Learning Commons is located on the main floor of the BCIT Library, Burnaby campus. Up-to-date schedules are posted in the Learning Commons and on our website http://www.bcit.ca/learningcommons/
