Prof Daniele Artoni invites scholars to present expressions of interest in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) on AI and cross-cultural pragmatics.
The project investigates how generative AI systems represent and normalise requestive behaviour across different languages, focusing on pragmatics such as politeness, mitigation, and interpersonal relations. It aims to model cross-linguistic variation in requests and identify systematic distortions, including simplification and implicit (English-based) standardization in AI outputs. A key objective is to develop a comparative, plurilingual framework combining corpus analysis, annotation, and controlled AI evaluation.
