In Italian, when expressing hunger, the verb 'to have' is used
In the verb 'to have' ▬►'avere' the final vowel is sometimes omitted
▬► aver fame ▬► to have hunger / to be hungry
ho fame ▬► I have hunger / I am hungry
hai fame? ▬► Are you hungry?
ha fame ▬► He/she/it has hunger ▬►He/she/it is hungry
abbiamo fame ▬► I have hunger / I am hungry

The idiomatic use of 'to have' = 'aver' is used in a few everyday expressions in Italian which is formed with the verb + a noun> In English we express this in one of 2 ways - we either express this with either the verb to have + a noun or the verb to be/feel + an adjective

aver freddo ▬► to be cold
aver coraggio ▬► to be courageous

Did you know that today, 2nd of June 2021 marks the 75th anniversary of Italian National Day ❤ Happy 75th Italian Republic Day 🇮🇹 Many generations of Italian immigrants have helped shape the success of Australia, the USA, Canada and the list goes on ...where are you and how has the Italian culture influenced and enriched where you live?
With many Italian delicatessens, cafés, restaurants, butchers, hairdressers, mechanics, breadshops, chemists, doctors, pasticcerie/cake shops, reception lounges, real estate agents, Italian teachers and the list goes on. Can you add to the list?
There are so many businesses with a high proportion of Italian heritage staff. perhaps even you have Italian ancestry or perhaps you're just as in love with all things Italian and the chance to indulge in a trip to Italy once Covid 19 restrictions return to a new kind of normal so you can again enjoy Italian history and culture - visit Italian cities,
Italian cars, Italian furniture, Italian fashion ... the list goes on.
