The deadline for CONFINI is postponed to January 10th, 2021.
We have been receiving many inquiries concerning the end of the competition, since many composers have had problems in the writing process due to the inactivity of many Conservatories and Institutes, which have not been able to offer the necessary spaces to work and collaborate with musicians because of the epidemic.

Facing the uncertainty of the near future, it is therefore considered appropriate to move the deadline for applications by 3 months in order to allow the ideal conditions necessary to carry out the work.

The date for the residency and the performance for the winning pieces at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia is confirmed to be in the spring of 2021.

Confini - call for works is conceived and promoted in collaboration with the iconic Electronic Music department of the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia.

Founded in 1972 by the Italian composer Wolfgango Dalla Vecchia, this department has been directed by Alvise Vidolin, legendary italian figure in the electronic international scene.

Since then, composers Giorgio Klauer, Corrado Pasquotti, and Paolo Zavagna have taken upon the responsibility to lead its present way, by organizing and presenting educational activities and workshops, lectures and concert with the main institutions residing on the island, keeping alive and vibrant the honorable tradition of one of the most experimental academic environments in Italy.

Grazie alla collaborazione tra il Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia e l'associazione VERV nasce "Confini", il nuovo bando internazionale per composizioni elettroacustiche originali.

For all winners, selected by an internationally qualified jury panel, a 5-day residency on the island in 2021, including workshop with an ensemble and a special performance at the Venice Conservatoire!

This presentation has the format of a day-long laboratory looking into open form composition and interactive performance with electronics. Resulting from an extensive artistic research process between 2006 and 2016, the composition Repetition Repeats All Other Repetitions constitutes the point of departure for demonstrations of materials and discussions from aesthetic, scientific and political perspectives.
