“Those who have been sounding alarms about White and Kanakuk said his retirement is not enough to satisfy what should be done.

Nancy French, who was among the first to document abuses at Kanakuk, said on social media: “Under his leadership at Kanakuk, hundreds of children were abused. This isn’t the end of an era — a new start requires institutional acknowledgement of wrongdoings and actual repentance. He’s still currently CEO of this camp.”

Elizabeth Carlock Phillips founded the advocacy organization No More Victims after her brother, Trey Carlock, was abused by Newman and eventually took his own life in despair about an NDA he had signed. She told MinistryWatch: “Joe White covered up known child sexual abuse for years and lied to families about covering it up. He continued to allow a known child abuser access to children, well after multiple families reported the abuse. He should have retired years ago, and most likely spent time in prison.”

Kanakuk’s CEO/Board Chair Joe White has confessed on multiple occasions that he knew was naked with children all the time. This is from a deposition, shared with permission by one of the 50+ John Does that have sued in civil court. Yet people still worship and believe this man. Listen to survivors….

“White’s announcement came weeks after he informed families that he would no longer oversee the camp’s K-2 division. In that March 2026 email, White referenced health problems and “the increasing volume of fallacious attacks in the media.”

Not surprisingly, White’s retirement announcement did not directly address abuse allegations or litigation. Instead, the longtime camp leader emphasized the ministry’s future.“

When Joe White said “yeah, I used to do that stuff too” referring to naked four wheeling with children. Under oath- in a deposition. Other slide sets the context/line of questioning. Sharing with permission.

And it’s taken 50 years for this CEO and board chair of a kids camp for thousands to resign. This is what victims know and why lawsuits matter. Truth always comes to light and Joe White is just fine with adults being naked with campers. It’s “guy stuff.”

Joe White said he won’t retire until August 31, 2026 so he’s still around kids THIS SUMMER. Parents…stop being foolish. Pick another camp! Joe White and his regime are sick and care about preserving their camp > protecting kids.

Kanakuk survivors deserve real change, accountability, and justice–not a PR move. Kanakuk is still not safe for children.

Out today from Joe White. How do you feel about it? Too little too late or just in time to save summer camp enrollment…

“In Missouri, it is estimated that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men experience sexual violence in their lifetime.

New legislation to give sexual abuse victims more time to file a lawsuit has stalled. The bill is not stalled for lack of support. Instead, it is tied to shortening the statute of limitations for personal injury lawsuits.

KY3’s Steve Grant and Missouri Independent reporter Steph Quinn discuss what’s next for the legislation.“

Our fourth session keeping up the fight and we won’t stop until child s*xual abuse victims have fair access to Missouri’s civil courts. Survivors deserve due process yet have been barred from holding their abusers and liable institutions accountable since 1939. Time to modernize laws with a constitutional amendment. Everything else is just political posturing and caving to the insurance and tort reform lobbies. We aren’t naive and we aren’t going to stop advocating for what’s right- what children harmed in deserve…justice and accountability matter to ensure this state doesn’t remain the sanctuary state for p*dophiles that it is.
