👉Special Award "Mediterranean Zero Waste Award”

The Mediterranean Award for Best Practices in Food Loss and Waste Prevention and Reduction is an international recognition established in 2026 to acknowledge and promote outstanding initiatives contributing to the prevention and reduction of food loss and waste and food system sustainability.

📌For the 2026 edition, applications are eligible only if the proposed project, initiative, or best practice is
implemented in, or primarily concerns, one of the participating countries: Albania, Egypt, or
Tunisia. Applicants are not required to be resident or legally established in one of these countries,
provided that the proposed project meets this geographic eligibility requirement.

The Award is open to individuals and legally registered organizations of all types, including: associations, non-profit organizations, social enterprises, start-ups, companies, universities and research institutions. Individual applicants must be 35 years old or younger on the application deadline ( 20 Spetmeber 2026) . No age requirement applies to organizations.

📌The Mediterranean Zero Waste Award 2026, launched within the 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐓 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, is an international recognition established to acknowledge and promote outstanding projects, initiatives and good practices contributing to the prevention and reduction of food loss and waste and the sustainability of food systems. The 2026 edition is dedicated to concrete and innovative actions addressing these challenges.

🔗The call is open to individuals and legally registered organisations and focuses on projects implemented in, or primarily concerning, , or . Individual applicants must be 35 years old or younger by the application deadline. No age limit applies to organisations.

🏆The first-ranked project will receive a €2,000 award, while the second- and third-ranked initiatives will receive visibility through the Zero Waste Campaign’s social media channels and events.

We are looking for farmers, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and changemakers from across the Mediterranean to take part in the Poster Session: "Stories from the Field: The People Shaping the Future of Agriculture" — part of the international symposium "The Farmers of Tomorrow: Skills, Jobs and Renewal Pathways in Times of Uncertainty", taking place in Zaragoza on 30 September–1 October 2026.

If you are under 40 and working in the agri-food sector — whether you are a new entrant, running a family farm, leading a cooperative, or building an innovative start-up — we want to hear from you. Tell us your story: the challenges, the turning points, and the lessons learned.
