The English Tea-cher

I've always wondered how to put my PhD in English literature to good use, so I've decided to start a virtual reading group. Each week I'll post a short story, a poem or an excerpt from a novel that I think is worth reading, and welcome ideas, thoughts, and reflections. Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams

Sono da poco diventata mamma, e mi rendo conto di quanto il tempo alle mamme e ai papà con figli piccoli non basti mai. Qualche giorno fa stavo facendo una lezione online con una mia studentessa e mio figlio, che di solito ama stare con i nonni, era inconsolabile e voleva a tutti i costi la mamma (o quella parte della mamma che produce cibo 24 ore su 24). La mia studentessa l'ha sentito piangere e mi ha detto "perché non gli dai da mangiare, a me non disturba. Anzi, quasi quasi prendo anche io mia figlia che così sente un po' di inglese". Allora ho pensato "Why not?". Ci sono tante altre mamme e papà là fuori che vorrebbero imparare o perfezionare l'inglese, e magari non hanno neanche la fortuna che ho io di avere i nonni a disposizione. Così nasce Flexible English, un progetto pensato per i genitori che vogliono fare conversazione, prepararsi per una certificazione o migliorare uno o più aspetti del loro inglese parlato e scritto, tutto insieme al loro bambino, sia online che in presenza. Gli orari sono flessibili perché i bambini sono imprevedibili, e per lo stesso motivo la cancellazione delle lezioni è gratuita. Vagiti, parlottii, urletti e marachelle di sottofondo sono benvenuti.
