🌟 Exciting Times at the 8th European Symposium of Photopolymer Science in Stresa (Italy) 🌟

This event brought together some of the brightest minds from academia and industry to discuss and present the latest innovations in the field of photopolymer science.

Long days of insightful seminars and vibrant discussions advancements and challenges in our field on critical topics such as photochemistry, reaction kinetics, analytical methods, photoinitiator and monomer synthesis, structure-property relations and polymer processing. Also a fantastic opportunity to network with experts, share knowledge, and explore new collaborations. A big thank you to all the speakers, participants, and volunteers who is making this event possible ❤️

Today I was honored to receive the prestigious award for the best paper in the field of cationic photopolymerization at the virtual symposium of ESPS meeting, dedicated to the memory of Professor Crivello. In this picture is me 21 years ago in the lab of Professor Crivello. I own all my knowledge in this field to 2 important man. First Professor Aldo Priola who believed in me as a young PhD student and than to Jim Crivello from whom I learnt a lot. Thank you.

Lorenzo Pezzana joins my team here at Politecnico di Torino and will work on the functionalization of biobased monomers for UV-cationic photopolymerization. These materials and their properties will be tailored to produce coatings and bulk applications with high performances and low environmental impact.

I'm very happy and hope you'll have great success.

Light Processable Starch Hydrogels Light processable hydrogels were successfully fabricated by utilizing maize starch as raw material. To render light processability, starch was gelatinized and methacrylated by simple reaction with methacrylic anhydride. The methacrylated starch was then evaluated for its photocuring reactivity and 3...

Grazie a tutte e tutti.

Photopolymer is back after coronavirus break 16/05/2020

Photopolymer is back after coronavirus break. We have never stopped studying, researching and thinking ahead.
Big thanks to my PhD students; they are starting to work again in the lab with restrictions and respecting the physical distance. Hope to meet my colleagues again soon, at Politecnico di Torino and abroad, and building up new projects, new networks, and having new scientific discussions.

Even if this difficult moment for Italy and the entire world, we are proud and happy to celebrate the graduation in Materials Science of our students at Politecnico di Torino. It was an emotional moment for my students and me. Lorenzo Pezzana, Daniele Maugeri, Corrado Dall’Argine, and Valentina Cavallo showed their excellent works. Congrats also to my students Martina Cattaruzza for her graduation in Chemical Engineering.

Students are the light of our future. Congratulation!
