Across Mediterranean EU countries, the agricultural sector - particularly olive cultivation - is facing severe labour shortages that are threatening harvest yields and local economies. At the same time, thousands of displaced Ukrainians in Europe are eager to find meaningful employment, yet many face structural barriers and a "de-skilling" crisis in the host-country labour markets.
Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, Go2Grove bridges this gap by offering specialised Vocational Education and Training (VET). By teaching the intricacies of olive cultivation and olive oil production, this initiative is:
🌱 Empowering refugees with specialised skills through dedicated training and self-regulated learning platforms.
🚜 Supporting the Mediterranean agricultural sector by directly addressing critical workforce shortages.
🤝 Fostering genuine social and economic integration across Europe.
💡 Why is this so important right now?
To understand the broader context of the refugee employment gap and why targeted vocational training is vital, check out this eye-opening UNHCR report on the labour market integration of Ukrainian refugees in Europe:

🌿 Did you know that olive oil production involves much more than just harvesting and pressing olives? 🫒
The Go2Grove project is working on something special! We are dedicated to the education and integration of Ukrainian refugees through capacity-building in olive cultivation, helping them find valuable employment while addressing labour shortages in the Mediterranean olive-growing sector.
To support our VET learners and trainers, we are developing an interactive online platform - a true "Virtual Olive Grove for Learning, Growth, and Empowerment"! 🌳✨
Here is what we are building on the platform:
📖 The Go2Grove Handbook: A comprehensive guide to building agricultural skills in the olive sector.
🎥 Instructional Videos: From pruning and fertilising to pressing and extraction, we are developing videos to showcase every key stage of the process.
