I've received several notices lately of views of this page. My son, Livio, and I started this activity one summer long ago, but we both had too much to do in the Fall and Winter to keep it up, unfortunately. I still think it's something that is needed, and I'm planning to begin again once all the summer travels are over.

In tutoring English, I have found that many people know the grammar, and can get by pretty well with written English (at least understanding it), but when it comes to speaking, they have a hard time. Meeting regularly for an hour of conversation would be a boon for them!

So, if you are visiting this page, and you live in Trieste, please leave a message. I will contact you when I'm organizing the meet-ups! 😃

Second meeting "English To Go"

Yesterday's meeting was lots of fun! After our customary aperitif, we started with a trivia contest about the Giardino Pubblico. Do YOU know who the statue at the point of the park is? Then we moved on to "Untangle" (see photos). We thank our two-time participants: Ivano and Lucio, and welcome newcomers: Nadia, Sharon, Andrea, Eligio, AnnaMaria and Simone. Hope to see all of you again, and some new faces, too, next Tuesday, July 3rd at 6:45pm at the scacchiera!

Today will be our second meeting of "English to Go". We're meeting at the chess board (scacchiera) in the Giardino Pubblico from 6:45 to 7:45. These free meetings are our way of trying out ideas for a course that we will be offering through a language school in September. The idea is to provide an opportunity for our Italian friends and students to use their English, and for all to have fun! Native English speakers are welcome, too, of course.
