Nobel Laureate Abdus Salam founded the ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics) in 1964 to provide scientists from developing countries with the training and education to develop their careers. When it was set up in the midst of the Cold War it served as an important bridge between East and West.

Salam was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 1979 for his contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particle - he used the prize money to benefit physicists in developing countries.

We're excited to welcome you to reconnect with your former classmates, to connect with other Diploma scholars in your field, and to celebrate science and the power of ICTP networking opportunities.

Highlights of the event include:

a keynote speech by 2020 Nobel Laureate in Physics Andrea Ghez
a talk on diversity in science by Sylvester James Gates, Jr, president of the American Physical Society
talks by prominent Diploma alumni, including Freddy Cachazo, recipient of the prestigious New Horizons in Physics Prize in 2014
parallel sessions in various regions of the world to foster the creation of networks
a video (or media of your choice) challenge to let you tell the world about your ICTP experience!

Mark your calendars--the event takes place from 23 to 25 August 2021-- and register now. The registration deadline is 30 June.

We look forward to welcoming you all to the Diploma 30th Anniversary!
