Friends! I'm doing some research for my next article. I'm collecting information from hikers all over the world on what's their favourite piece of equipment for hiking and trekking in the mountains. It would be great if you could participate too!

NEW ARTICLE ALERT
Even though I live in the beautiful Alps now, there's a part of me who's still in love with the Highlands of Scotland, and always will be. In this article written for I talk about a trek I did a few years ago, which is still up there on my list of favourite walks.
It's called the Skye Trail and crosses the Isle of Skye from south to north, from sea to summit. It's just incredible.
Go have a read and tell me if you don't want to leave tomorrow to go there!

THE LOST ART OF MOUNTAIN WALKING
We live in an ever changing world, highly stimulating, where stopping is not allowed, not even for a second.
The mountain environment is much the same: everybody's always pushing to their limits, training for their next goal, never a rest day. An extremely motivating environment.
Sometimes, though, I feel that the mountains are more and more treated as a mere training ground. The environment itself is not important anymore, what really matters is the performance.
Running, skiing, climbing; they're all sports that can be done in the mountains. But where does walking stand? In elite mountain environments, walking is merely seen as a way of getting to the bottom of a climb or at the top of a slope covered in fresh powder. Those sweet first turns. A means to an end, then, not good enough to be considered an activity in its own right.
But when people ask me what is it that I like to do in the mountains, my answer is walking. To me, it's the purest form of adventure.
