I am living since May 1985 in Italy, Abruzzo Tocco Da Casauria. I want to share my experience with tourists now Abruzzo has become known and many visitors come by to see the region.
Tocco is a village where clean energy has powered life starting 20 years ago, make use of the area's windy nature. The New York Times has written an article about this.
Abruzzo is still a very authentic area, where the value of the characteristic culinary tradition is still highly valued. "Slow Food" is still the first choice here, eating is a social event where the family is central. The Sunday lunch is a special gathering, usually consisting in hours of enjoying the many dishes in a cosy atmosphere.
I offer courses of 4 days, 3 nights, for people who are looking for a quality touristic experience. The courses are for groups of maximum 10 people. You will stay in local bed and breakfasts. Everyone has their own room where maximum privacy is guaranteed. Each room has its own bathroom.
I give cooking classes, along with Italian women from the village, using basic cooking culture from Abruzzo. The 4 days of activities will start with learning some simple dishes which can easily be made at home. A visit to the local wine cellars follow, for some tasting of high quality wine. A visit of the natural surroundings, which are part of the National Park Of Abruzzo, is also in place.
