🍽️ Lunch at ISB: where sharing goes beyond the table

At ISB, lunch is much more than a break in the school day. It is a special moment when students of different ages come together to share, play, talk, and learn from one another.

Older and younger students naturally interact, exchanging ideas, opinions, stories, and perspectives. Through a simple conversation or a shared game, they discover new ways of seeing the world and sometimes, the best lessons happen when we least expect them. 🌍✨

But this first day was extra special… RAI joined us to discover ISB, meet our community and interview our school leaders.

🇮🇹 Buon Ferragosto from the International School of Brindisi! 🌊

​Today's public holiday dates back to Emperor Augustus. He declared the Feriae Augusti as a vital rest after the heavy agricultural harvest. The Church later placed the Assumption of the Virgin on the same date.
​Two ancient traditions, one clear instruction: stop working, eat with the people you love, and if you are by the coast, head to the sea.
​Here in Brindisi, that means the beaches are full by 9:00 AM. Tonight, the towns around us will light up with the luminarie. You'll hear the bande—local brass players working through opera arias in the piazzas. Somewhere nearby, there will be a procession, a statue of the Madonna carried slowly past people who have come out onto their balconies to watch. And later, the fireworks.
​To help our international community navigate today, here is the ISB guide to Ferragosto:
​✅ DO say "Buon Ferragosto" to everyone, including strangers on the beach.
✅ DO say yes if someone invites you to lunch.
✅ DO bring the watermelon—and share it with whoever is nearest.
