Last Friday, we concluded the 3rd Edition of the Global Mental Health and Human Rights Summer School.
We feel deeply grateful for the collective work we shared throughout the week. Together, we created a space for learning, dialogue, and solidarity, grounded in the principles of liberation and decolonization.
It is both a privilege and a source of hope to be part of a global community of activists, scholars, and practitioners committed to advancing mental health, human rights, and social justice.
Thank you to everyone who contributed their knowledge, experience, care, and commitment. We are looking forward to continuing this journey together.

Today we held our fourth bell hooks lecture, and we are deeply grateful to Prof. Brian K. Barber for his powerful contribution, during which he presented his book “No Way but Forward.”

What resonated with us most were his reflections on stories, resistance, education against erasure, and endurance despite oppression.

Through the lives of three Palestinian families, Prof. Barber’s work shed light on the strength, dignity, and humanity that persist even in the most devastating circumstances. His decades of work and research in Gaza illuminate not only the violence and destruction endured, but also the love, memory, and commitment to the future that continue to shape everyday acts of resistance.

Thank you, Prof. Barber, for sharing these voices and for reminding us of the importance—and responsibility—of bearing witness.
