Un film di Alberto Nacci sull’arte della calcografia. I personaggi: le mani del maestro, la lastra, la carta, il rullo, l’inchiostro. Il film scorre in un
silenzio assorto interrotto soltanto dal rumore del bulino che incide, del rullo che gira, della carta bagnata. In questo silenzio si compie la metamorfosi dell’incisione, che come crisalide passa dalla lastra di metallo alla carta. E’ operazione complessa e con una estrema chiarezza narrativa il film ne segue tutti i passaggi, con efficacia idattica che non ha pari. Si osserva il procedere dell’incisione e della stampa col fiato sospeso, per vedere come va a finire e per la sorpresa dei risultati. Sono azioni che si possono descrivere, ma che nessun manuale potrà segnalare come la limpida visione di questo film. Carlo Bertelli

A movie by Alberto Nacci on the art of chalcography. Cast: the Master’s hands, the plate, the paper, the roll, the ink. The film goes on in a deep silence interrupted only by the noise of the burin, the turning roll, the wet, dripping paper. In this silence the metamorphosis of the engraving,impressed from the metal plate to the paper, comes true like a chrysalis. It is a difficult task: the movie shows all steps in an extreme narrative clearness and remarcable didactic knowledge. It is with bated breath that the creative proceeding of engraving and printing can be observed, in order to watch how it will end up and what surprise the results will give us. All these proceedings in print making can be described, but no textbook can report them so vividly like this movie. Carlo Bertelli
