Action Antibullying

Action Antibullying The project designs and implements a new anti-bullying programme in schools from 5 EU countries. It draws on the experience of existing programmes.

Drawing together good practice from 5 countries, a new European anti- bullying training programme for schools is designed to improve the whole school climate of Convivencia (Convivencia is a Spanish word meaning “living together in harmony”). A partnership of 5 organisations have celebrated the outcomes of 2 years working together with pilot schools from Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and the U

K to design and test The Action Anti-Bullying (AAB) programme. The EU Daphne funded AAB programme trains National Facilitators to apply a comprehensive training pack for school AAB leaders which helps them to address the causes of bullying and to develop a climate of convivencia in which bullying will not be tolerated. Designed to build on what schools are already doing, the project has tested an on-line review instrument which engages the whole school community in not only identifying levels of bullying but also in evaluating 10 areas of the school’s organisation for creating convivencia. Based on the results of the review, trained school AAB leaders develop and implement an action plan for whole school improvement using freely available resources collected and developed by the project, including a School Bullying Reduction Handbook and a growing on-line database of teaching and learning materials focussed on child wellbeing and the creation of convivencia.
