Fluency doesn’t equate with speed
Ask any language learner what their ultimate goal is, and most will say fluency.

But fluency means different things to different people. For one person, it might mean being able to speak spontaneously about any topic they love; for another, it might mean reading literature without a dictionary.

There’s no universal definition because fluency is more a feeling than a science.

Still, there’s one common misconception worth undoing: fluency doesn’t equate with speed.

Real conversation begins the moment you stop rehearsing your reply.

A long weekend in the heart of Le Marche.
We would speak Italian, cook local dishes, visit towns off the tourist trail. Just five women and me, sharing stories, mistakes, laughter… and a lot of pasta.
