Just under 5 weeks until ‘When The Mushrooms Dream Us’ begins. Both Ryan and I, the team behind these cultural immersions, have been reflecting a lot of the responsibility and gift that it is to link both sides of these bridges we are building. We’re in the position to support people from all walks of life to deepen their study of life and self with these wisdom keepers and original peoples AND we get to support the livelihood and important missions of those beings too.

Elders cannot be elders without the youth.
The youth cannot be youth without the elders.

Alejandrina has been building a Mazatec orphanage and language learning school with the money she receives, and we’ve been big supporters of this intent too. A purpose of this school and orphanage is to continue the lineage and learnings with her people and beyond so that this healing work doesn’t go extinct. And WE benefit greatly from having the immense privilege to learn with her too- at these immersions!

It is our deepest heartfelt prayer for those to receive and know this gift, so that we may all continue giving in a good way.

One of the beautiful pieces of this particular fungi is that it has the ability to open the mind to a new network, a mycelium network is only as strong as it is connected. We have much to learn from just that alone during a time of the self made man myth, the ultra-independant, and the increasing polarization across Earth. When we re-collect our connection, we are immensely capable, strong, and deeply rooted to become a type of community member our world is calling for.

So who is immersion for? For the ones who dare to dream a more connected future.

So what is Sixth Sun? We've been around for a minute now and figured we'd give you a refresher.

Sixth Sun Immersions offers immersive bio-cultural heritage and ancestral-futurist experiences that blend diverse cultural epistemologies (ways of knowing), ancestral ontologies (ways of being) and cosmovisions, cognitive linguistics, Earth-wisdom, multi-generational community, and master plants, all rooted in regenerative systems revelation and solidarity with Earth's evolution.

In short, we're here to help you be a bridge. To transform, learn, catch a vision (& nurture one), prepare you for the times that are approaching, and to tether us all back into this collective remembering.

We’re honored to share that we will be hosting a 5-day Mazatec cultural immersion in Costa Rica at the beautiful, regenerative Yacumama Ecovillage, guided by Alejandrina Pedro Castañeda—a Mazatec curandera, cultural guardian, and elder from Huautla de Jiménez, Oaxaca.

Many overlook the power of these humble beings, but they probably haven’t sat in a truly traditional ceremony with the guardian of ndi xhito.

This immersion includes two traditional veladas (darkness + daylight), limpias, auratherapy, altar teachings, prayer, silence, and communion with the land.

In the Mazatec understanding, healing is relational, mycelial and of course participatory.

Something shifts within you when you stop treating Earth as a project to fix or a bucket list to check off and start feeling Her as a body, a Mother, a being we are both children of and custodians to.

One of the simplest ways we’ve found to return to right relationship and step beyond transactionality is through ritual and ceremony.

Many peoples have been ripped from their cultural ways of knowing how to be human, but we can always return to the elements and to the elders who still hold their ancestral connections, helping us remember our own.

This is a major component of why we curate these experiences with some of the most powerful healers and elders we’ve encountered. Over the years, we have hosted immersions all over the world, reconnecting people to place with the help of these beautiful guardians. This holiday season, we are feeling immensely grateful for their time, wisdom, and learned ways of knowing. Here are just a few photos from past moments, more to come.

When we drift from nature, we forget how to feel. Our hearts harden, and the mind works in overdrive.

Maybe it feels too simple a solution in a world where we’re told everything is complex, but a walk in the forest, the presence of wind, the sound of a river, or the heat of a fire—it does something to you. It reminds you of your own natural system and how to soften in a world that can benefit from calcified hearts.

The peaceful warrior who enters into the forest always has wisdom to share when he returns to his village. What will you have to say after your walk in the woods?
