FromEUtoYOU is an Erasmus+ Project training 10 young participants, 18-30 years old, on LAGs

The presentation of the FromEUtoYOU pathway by the Italian participants at the Brasseria Alpina in San Germano Chisone, was a good moment to show what we have done over the past two years and to talk about rural development, adaptation to climate change and the role of young people in our society.

Memories surfaced of many good times spent together, of many interesting realities encountered and of an enriching journey for both the participants and GAL Escartons e Valli Valdesi.

Let us look to the future with a little more hope!

⏰ The end of the FromEUtoYOU project is approaching and it is time to take stock.

✍️ The Italian participants of the project will present the work done during these two years in a meeting with the citizenship that will take place in San Germano Chisone (Italy) on 30 October at 3pm.

🎤 It will be an opportunity to discuss the results, think about what they bring to the territory and future prospects.

🌱 The Professional Lab has been over for a few days, but the experiences remain vivid in our minds.
It was an important moment of exchange of good practices in rural development, that was very fruitful for both the participants and the two LAGs partners.

What remains the most, however, is the energy of these 10 young people who decided to take part in our project.

🌍 Beyond the prevailing rhetoric of 'young slackers who don't want to work' and 'young people who will save the world destroyed by the old', we believe it is time to give room to those who, especially in rural areas, are fighting to find their way and want to give a future to the places they love.

⭐ The stories of our participants are about that. People who have chosen to become entrepreneurs in their municipalities, who are active in local political life, who did many internships and work experiences in local development organisations, with high-level academic experiences, but above all, thoughtful and curious minds who look critically but purposefully at what is around them.

The energies are there, let us use them

📆Last day no less exciting than the previous ones.

🤝 Time to talk about coworking in rural areas with Palau Cowork and the networking project between rural coworking spaces . Interesting places to favour those who decide to live in our territories.

🫖 Final visit to , another LEADER-supported project.

Finally "l’hora dels adeus", sad and tired faces but full of new ideas and hope to invest in rural areas.

Day 4 was a very inspiring day.
In the morning we spoke with Professor Jordi Franquesa about various aspects of rural planning. We discovered the great opportunities for young people of Projecte Odisseu.

Meeting local entrepreneurial projects such as Cerdanya Ecoresort, Làctics l’Esquella and Entorns sparked curiosity in the group.

A group cooking evening was a good end of our day.

🚌 Day 3 we moved to Coll de Nargò to visit some Leader Alt Urgell Cerdanya beneficiaries and to know about the interesting Gratitud Pallars project. Its goal is to strengthen the ties between people and the region via programmes promoting nature conservation and care for our cultural heritage.

🦕 A visit to Dinosfera museum, which received LEADER funds to equip itself with photovoltaic panels, allowed us to learn about the interesting discoveries made in the Pyrenees related to dinosaurs.

🗣️Time do discuss on "resilient territories" with the participants point of view.

📆 A second day full of new insights into projects to support rural development and local producers.

🤝We discussed with the ARCA Desenvolupament Rural the region's new Rural Agenda, an innovative initiative to focus the objective for the next years and involve local actors and government in the development of rural areas.

🧀We discover Manja't l'Alt Ugell, a local association which brings together 32 producers to promote their products and Alt Urgell and the Mengem d’Aquí project, which seeks to promote local food in school canteens in a collaboration between schools, families, producers and local government.

🚶Finally, time for a walk to discover the fantastic mountains overlooking La Seu d'Urgell and their geological history.

Now we are ready to start day 3!

💡The Professional Lab has started!

🌱An interesting first day of exchange on the progress of Local Development Strategies, the structure of the LAGs and the work carried out in recent months. We were hosted at the headquarters of the GAL Alt Urgell-Cerdanya.

⛪In the afternoon there was time to get to know La Seu d'Urgell, its historical centre and its interesting past and present.

✍ The past few months have been useful to continue the discourse of creating a draft local development strategy and to talk about the calls that are being opened by LAGs in their territories. It was a great opportunity to meet and discuss with the actors working in the rural areas.

🚌 Now the participants are preparing to finish their tasks and meet again in La Seu d'Urgell at the end of May to discuss their findings on rural development in the two areas.
