We are exceptionally proud of nine students who today became the first cohort to take ABRSM music exams here at Southlands, sitting Initial Grade or Grade 1 exams on the piano.

The world renowned ABRSM is the UK's largest music education body, holding over 650,000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year.

As always, our students approached a tough exam with quiet confidence and composure, and we are sure this will be reflected in their exam grades to be received in the next few weeks.

Back in Umbria, our Year 6s have been having the best time out on the lake learning how to canoe and kayak! "Can't we do residentials every week?!"

Did you know that bouldering is now part of our PE curriculum?! We love the opportunities to learn new skills and grow resilience that non-traditional sports provide. Surfing, trail biking and bouldering are the perfect compliment to our football, basketball, rugby and volleyball teams!

Our EcoWarriors have been transferring the seeds we planted during Globeducate EcoWeek in March to their permanent home in our raised beds. We love getting our hands dirty!!

Super proud of our Year 9, 10 and 11 students who completed their assessed Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition at the weekend! They spent 2 days and 1 night hiking and camping on Lake Bracciano, where they had to carry everything they needed for the weekend, cook their own meals and navigate their route. They're a little achey this morning but loved it and can't wait to sign up for Silver!

Year 12 attended their first in person University Fair this morning. They enjoyed visiting the various universities represented, including Tor Vergata, LUISS, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Temple University, St John’s, European School of Economics, European School of design and many more. It was a unique opportunity for them to ask questions to admissions representatives. Thank you St. Stephen's for hosting!

To end their fun-filled afternoon yesterday, our Year 8 and 9 students enjoyed a raft session on C***o River and had the chance to admire the spectacular Biselli gorge, a beautiful example of a gorge cut in a mountainous ridge.

Day 3 in Umbria: our Year 8 and 9 students visited the beautiful town of Norcia, which was struck by an earthquake in 2016. The group learned about earthquakes and the ongoing restoration of the Basilica of St. Benedict, which suffered significant damage.
