INCREASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH LOWER RISK OF 13 TYPES OF CANCER

A new study of the relationship between physical activity and cancer has shown grater levels of leisure time physical activity with a lower risk of 13 types cancer. The risk was more than 20 percent lower. These was found from researchers at the NCI part of NIH and American Cancer Society, confirm the evidence for the benefit of physical activity on cancer risk and support its role for cancer prevention.

Temporary tattoo measures blood glucose levels
Future diabetes patients won’t have to stick themselves with a needle; they’ll just need to get a tattoo. Researchers have developed a temporary paper-based tattoo that applies a mild electrical shock to the skin to measure blood glucose levels. In a study of seven individuals—four males and three females—who wore the tattoo while eating a carbohydrate-rich meal in the lab, the device (pictured) was just as effective at measuring glucose levels as the traditional method, the finger stick monitor. None of the volunteers reported any discomfort during the tests, the team reports in the current issue of Analytical Chemistry, although some of them did point out a tingling feeling when the tattoo was taking its measurements. The device does not currently provide a numerical reading that diabetes patients would need to monitor their condition, but this is in the cards. Other possible applications include sending the information to the patient’s doctor in real time using Bluetooth. Now, the tattoo works for a whole day; the researchers are working on making the tattoo last longer while keeping it at its current cost of a few cents.

Top 10 scientific mysteries for the 21st century

The last few centuries have been pretty good for science. In the 17th century, Isaac Newton solved the ancient controversy over the nature of forces and motion with his three laws. In the 18th, Ben Franklin figured out a lot about electricity. In the 19th, Darwin explained the diversity of species, Maxwell revealed the physics of light, Mendeleyev defined the families of chemical elements. In the 20th we had Einstein, who figured out all sorts of stuff, including gravity. No to mention Watson and Crick, who deciphered the molecular foundation for genetics and life. What more do you want?

Here's what happens when you drink water immediately after getting out of bed:

The current health trend is drinking water immediately after getting out of bed. Scientist have confirmed the medical value of this to be completely beneficial to our health.

Drinking water when waking has been linked to curing and prevention of certain disease and ailments such as headaches, body aches, arthritis, heart problems, epilepsy, obesity, tuberculosis, meningitis, kidney disease, vomiting, gastritis, diabetes, constipation, uterine disease, ear and throat disease.

The Method:

Upon waking, before doing anything else, drink four 6 ounce glasses or water. Remember if there is some reason you cannot hold this much water at one time, start with as much as you can and increase the amount.
Brush your teeth and perform your morning oral hygiene routine, and then wait 45 minutes before eating or drinking anything.

After the 45 minutes is up, eat breakfast as usual, and then do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours.

Specific diseases

If using the above method, the research shows that the number of days the regimen must be followed to cure each disease.

High blood Pressure- 30 days

Gastric Problems- 10 days

Diabetes- 30 days

Constipation- 10 days

Cancer-180 days

Using this treatment method has no side effects other than increased urination at the beginning of the program. Drinking water and staying healthy and active are the ways that will better our lives.

Both the Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals instead of cold water. Cold water slows down the digestive process and solidifies the oily foods you have just eaten. Once these solidified oils react with the stomach acid, it is absorbed more quickly by the intestine and lines the intestinal wall. The long-term accumulation of these digested oils can lead to cancer. Perhaps Western cultures should adopt this practice as there is everything to gain and nothing to lose.

New study reveals what checking your phone is doing to your neck

New research suggests that looking down to check your phone is putting 27-kg of force on your neck. That’s like one giant anteater, or four full-sized bowling balls worth of strain on your neck, and you're doing it several times a day.
On average, we’re spending up to four hours a day looking down to read something or check our phones. This equates to 1,400 hours every year of extra stress on our cervical spines - the part in our necks just above our shoulders. A new study suggests that every time we do, we're putting about 27 kg (60 pounds) of force on our necks. As Olga Khazan points out at The Atlantic, that's equivalent to four bowling balls. Or an eight-year-old. And we still don’t know what the long-term effects of this will be.

The study was led by Kenneth Hansraj, chief spinal and orthopaedic surgeon at the New York Spine Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine in the US, who used a 3D model of the human spine to measure the effects of constantly bending our heads down to check our phones. Because our heads are pretty heavy - weighing up to 5.5 kg, or 12 pounds - when we are frequently looking down for extended periods, we’re increasing the gravitational pull on them. And, as it turns out, this force is pretty huge.

“As the head tilts forward, the forces seen by the neck surge to 27 pounds (12 kg) at 15 degrees, 40 pounds (18 kg) at 30 degrees, 49 pounds (22 kg) at 45 degrees and 60 pounds (27 kg) at 60 degrees,” Hansraj reports in the journal Surgical Technology International. "The weight seen by the spine dramatically increases when flexing the head forward at varying degrees. These stresses may lead to early wear, tear, and degeneration, and possibly surgeries.”

But before you throw your phone out the window and dig your letter-writing kit out of the boxes in the attic, don’t panic. Sydney-based musculoskeletal physiotherapist Tamer Sabet told Rachel Clun at The Sydney Morning Herald that neck pain can be the result of an array of factors, such as age, s*x, type of employment and various stresses, including - but not restricted to - phone use.

"From a purely physical perspective, the findings of what they're proposing make sense; however, pain is appreciated to be multidimensional,” she said. "There is an increasing body of information on genetic predisposition, personality traits or mood, and physical environment [as being associated with neck pain].”

Hansraj admits it's not reasonable to expect everyone to give up their phones to save their spines, but says just being aware of the problem, and making an effort to correct your posture as you're checking your phone will help in the long-run.
