Good morning everyone.
Here is a reminder of what people in the UK have as a cooked breakfast.
Continuing on with our food theme, today we look at the cooked breakfast (Full English Breakfast / Scottish Breakfast / All Day Breakfast). It's origins can be traced back to the 1300's, however it wasn't until the Victorian and Edwardian periods that the breakast became popular with the gentry, and in the 1950's this popularity spread to the working class.
Today, the breakfast is eaten at all times of the day and depending on which country / region / city / town you are in depends on what will be served to you. If at home, of course you can eat a combination more to your liking.
Below are some examples of cooked breakfasts with a list of foods that can be served as a breakfast, however the tradition is that whatever you have for breakfast it is usually served with a hot cup of tea and some toast.

As it is Guy Fawkes today, or another name for it is Bonfire night here is a little poem to tell you something about the tradition, why bonfires
Guy Fawkes
Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, guy, t'was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catch'd
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.
And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!

Good morning everyone and thank you for joining me here at Stepping Stones English.
Do you have problems deciding when you should use May and MIght?
Well today we are going to look at them both, and help you to understand the difference, with some examples below.
May is used to express what is possible, factual, or could be factual.
Might is used to express what is hypothetical, or remotely possible.
Immediately we can see from these explanations that might deals with situations that are speculative or did not actually happen, i.e. hypothetical, whereas may deals with situations that are possible or could be factual.
An easy way to remember this difference is that might suggests a lower probability than may. If something is very far-fetched, you will probably want to use might.
You could say might is for things that are mighty far-fetched.

Good morning everyone, as it is Easter weekend I thought I would introduce you to Easter, as it is traditionally celebrated, in Scotland
Easter traditions in Scotland include -
- painting an egg and rolling it down a hill
- egg hunts
- egg decoration contests
Easter in Scotland is a combination of fun activities (mostly for the kids) and religious.
There is also an old folk story that tells of an Easter Bunny 🐰 that leaves chocolate eggs in children's houses 😊

Good morning everyone, let's have a look at Modal verbs today
Modal verbs are different to other types of verbs, but work in a similar way to Auxiliary verbs.
Here are the differences between modal verbs and other verbs
1. Modal verbs don't have an infinitive form, you won't, for example, see To Can
2. Modal verbs don't have a past tense, for example there is no such thing as coulded
3. Modal verbs don't have the "ing" form, so there is no present participle (there is no such thing as coulding)
4. Modal verbs also don't have a past participle
5. Modal verbs can't stand alone like main verbs, they have to be used with another verb or as an auxiliary verb, for example, there is no such thing as 'I ought to my mother'
There are examples of Modal verbs below.
