Landscape Architecture Summer 2026 students visited MondoMelinda in Val di Non, Trentino, in Northern Italy, where they explored one of Italy's largest apple-growing cooperatives.

The highlight? Descending into the incredible celle ipogee—underground chambers carved into the Dolomite mountains, where apples are naturally stored using the mountain's cool temperatures to reduce energy consumption.

A fascinating look at how sustainability, agriculture, and landscape come together to create innovative solutions rooted in place.

Interior Design students recently traveled to Orvieto and Florence, exploring some of Italy's most celebrated artistic and cultural landmarks.

From standing before Michelangelo's David at the Galleria dell'Accademia to visiting the Museo di San Marco, where they saw the historic chair that inspired the name of the iconic Savonarola chair, students connected classroom concepts with the places and stories behind them.

Every destination offered a new perspective on how art, history, and design continue to influence the spaces we create today.

Communication students at the UARK Rome Center, led by Veronica Mobley, recently visited Roma Tre Radio, the official radio station of Università Roma Tre, where they explored the world of live broadcasting, content creation, and digital media.

From meeting the student team behind the station to stepping behind the microphone themselves, our students experienced firsthand what it takes to bring a radio program to life.

This summer, Andreah Gratol, a Multimedia Journalism student, completed an internship with Radio Bullets, where she created podcast episodes exploring life as an American in Rome and the cultural stories that make Italy unique.

From researching the history of Italian food culture to developing skills in journalism, podcast production, and independent storytelling, the experience gave her the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally.

As part of their academic experience at the University of Arkansas Rome Center, our Interior Design students, accompanied by Dr. Francesca Riccardo, visited Palazzo Canova and Canova Gallery (Loft Canova) for a unique look into the relationship between architecture, materials, and craftsmanship.

Guided by Architect Pasquale Piroso, students explored how marble, design, and artisanal knowledge come together to shape meaningful spaces—discovering that every project begins with a deep understanding of materials and the time required to transform an idea into architecture.

At McArthurGlen Castel Romano Designer Outlet, they discovered the strategies behind one of Europe's leading designer outlet destinations. At Il Torrino dei Gelsi, they experienced how branding, storytelling, and local traditions can transform a family business into a successful luxury agriturismo.

Two businesses. Two industries. One shared lesson: the best way to understand marketing is by seeing it in action.

Going behind the scenes of Italian design ✏️✨

Students in History of Italian Design, taught by Laura D'Angelo, visited the Architecture Archives at MAXXI, Italy's National Museum of 21st Century Arts.

By exploring original drawings, sketches, and design documents, students discovered how ideas evolve from the first concept to completed architectural projects and iconic industrial design objects.

A unique opportunity to experience the creative process behind some of Italy's most influential designs.

Another unforgettable summer in the books 🩺🇮🇹

As the third edition of Nursing Across the Lifespan in Rome, led by Dr. Shreve, comes to an end, we're celebrating a program filled with learning, discovery, and meaningful experiences.

Throughout the program, students explored the Italian healthcare system by visiting institutions including Policlinico Umberto I, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, and the Italian Red Cross.

They also took part in an Italian language course tailored to nursing students, taught by Ilaria Bevilacqua, where they developed both everyday language skills and the vocabulary needed to communicate in healthcare settings.

From comparing healthcare systems to experiencing patient-centered care firsthand, the program offered students a unique international perspective on nursing.

Architecture students have officially completed Reach, a design-build installation created for the community of Città Verde.

Working alongside faculty and project partners, students transformed reclaimed materials from the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale into a new public space—gaining hands-on experience in design, construction, and collaboration every step of the way.

A project that brought together creativity, sustainability, and community, while showing what architecture can achieve beyond the studio.
