Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying

On the 4th National Day against Bullying, - 7th February - the “Giordano Bruno” students took part to an important meeting held by the writer Michael Lacey Freeman about Bullying in the school Auditorium.
The students could discuss, ask and reflect on this important topic with the author of the book EGGHEAD, a story of firsthand bullying.

A journey of knowledge and experience for the Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying team of 3rd GEL of Corfu, Greece

EIRENE team of 3rd GEL of Corfu, as part of its theater-based bullying program, conducted a short "theatrical" getaway to Ioannina on the weekend of 8 and 9 February 2020 without any financial cost for the participants.
In Epirus Palace Hotel, after a short visit to the city of Ioannina, we dealt with the creation of "POL" team, the "mediators" for the prevention and confrontation of bullying incidents at our school.
With awareness-raising games and self-esteem exercises, we have tried to motivate our students to intervene in cases of violence. The teachers, also, empowered and been trained in Derry, Northern Ireland, we continued and deepened our theater techniques with games of self-awareness, empathy and interaction. We played, laughed, thought, became a better team and planned our next activities.
We lived a constructive and creative weekend, during which our relationships became more meaningful to ensure the best possible results.
We keep going, because our goal inspires us!

Today was the turn of the schools representatives to take on the facilitation role! IMS Giordano Bruno from Italy, Karalius Mindaugas from Lithuania, Szkoła Podstawowa from Poland, ETIC from Portugal and 3rd general lyceum of Corfu from Greece led activities from the drama sessions combating bullying. Photos from Wednesday. Today in Derry's training week was the day of the community engagement methodologies. Action Synergy delivered two workshops. The first one was about the POL methodology and the second one was a drama education workshop that can be applied to students, teachers, parents, and school administration.

Today I had the chance to facilitate once again the drama education workshop against bullying that I once experienced by InSite Drama.

When I first took part in it, It was within the framework of the EUBULLY project back in 2015.

Although Adam this week was in my country, I am in the beautiful Derry hosted by the great Playhouse Derry for the training week of the project EIRENE.

Today was the day I delivered the workshop to 20 amazing representatives of the partners of the project. It was once more an event that filled my soul and mind and I will always feel lucky for having the opportunity to experience these days.

Celebrating the "Human Rights Day" on the 10th of December 2019, the Greek 🇬🇷 school 3rd GEL Kerkyras, partner of Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying project tried to raise awareness of bullying to the school community.
Students, teachers and members of the project have worked together with the group of the school that is working on Amnesty International's corresponding program in which the school participates.
All together, they have created handmade bookmarks and distributed to all students and teachers.
It was an opportunity to link bullying to rights violations and also to highlight the need that everyone should take position against such phenomena.

Last week, on the 21st and 22nd November Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying partners gathered in Janków Przygodzki, Poland, for the 4th Transnational project meeting.
During 2 days, partners discussed project management, communication and dissemination plans and prepared all the contents, such as the Laboratories based on the technique of the Applied Theatre, Community Engagement and Web communication fundamentals for the Joint Staff Training Event that will be held in Derry, Northern Ireland, next January.

We celebrate the World Day of Bullying Prevention.

According to UNICEF, one out of every three children in the world, aged 13 to 16, is regularly bullied in school.

Making the world population aware of this form of violence, supporting and encouraging victims to report these serious situations and finding ways to prevent them, are the challenges.

With Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying project, we want to promote a deeper understanding of this serious issue and its effects, developing methodologies and guidelines that will help teachers, students and families to deal with this problem.

EIRENE – Erasmuns Project Eirene: using community learning paths to tackle bullying is an Erasmus+ project, funded by the European Union under KA2 – Strategic Partnerships and brings together eight European partners each with specific insights and expertise.

The 3rd transnational meeting of Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying project was held in Kaunas, Lithuania, on the 18th and 19th July.
The Lithuanian partner school Karaliaus Mindaugo profesinio mokymo centras welcomed the partners during these days, where Applied Theater and Community Engagement methodologies were presented by the experts from Playhouse (UK) and Action Synergy (Greece) and the foundations for the "social media campaign" by ETIC (PT).

During the 28th and 29th of March, partners of Eirene - Using community learning paths to tackle bullying project met once again to share their progress of the project with each other.
This time the venue for the meeting was in Corfu, Greece and it was a perfect destination for a meeting.
During the meeting, partners had the opportunity to discuss the various activities and intellectual outputs associated with the project.
It was clear during the meeting that the project has been progressing well and that all outputs are in a positive position to make an impact throughout Europe.
