INM CNR

The Institute of Marine Engineering of the National Research Council of Italy (INM-CNR) was created on May 23, 2018 by the merge of the Marine Technology Research Institute (INSEAN-CNR) and the Institute of Acoustics and Sensors (IDASC-CNR), located in Rome, with the units of Genova and Palermo of the Institute of Studies on Intelligent Systems for Automation (ISSIA-CNR).
INM-CNR's main research topics are:
- innovative models, technologies and design systems for the sea economy
- conventional vessels
- autonomous vessels
- marine robotics
- renewable energy from sea
- environmental, underwater and geo-acoustics
- acoustic characterisation of materials, structures and environments
- development and applications of instrumentation (sensors, actuators, transducers)
- maritime logistics and transport
- energy management aboard vessels and in harbour/coastal environment
