🌍 From Tunis, a new momentum for academic cooperation between Africa and Europe

Today, the “𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐬+ 𝐀𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫: 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬” Conference kicks off, gathering for 3 days around 170 higher education representatives from Europe, the Southern Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Organised by Erasmus+ INDIRE together with the MedNet network Agencies, in cooperation with UNIMED and the National Office Erasmus+ Tunisia the event aims to strengthen academic cooperation, foster new partnerships, and promote more inclusive shared pathways between Africa and Europe.

In this context, UNIMED emphasised that Euro-Mediterranean cooperation based on multilateralism and people-centred approaches is crucial to further reinforce Higher Education and research cooperation systems.

UNIMED — the Mediterranean Universities Union, the largest university network in the region — is eager to continue working in this direction, supporting the reinforcement of a renewed Euro-Mediterranean partnership in close collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean and all the other relevant actors and stakeholders.

Under the RISE project, partner universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq have published and validated their Institutional Roadmap for Internationalisation and Institutional Roadmap for Employability, together with a Synergic Roadmap that brings both together into a coordinated, long-term plan for institutional development.

The premise: universities are key actors of social and economic transformation at local and global level. Strategic planning should then reflect that.
