That's a wrap! The 2025-2026 school year came with some changes to Catholic student ministry on campus. Thank you to all the students and faculty who made it an overwhelmingly positive experience! We made a lot of memories and had fun doing it!

This Jubilee Year, Catholic Studies students journeyed to Rome to encountered the living heart of the Church in communion with the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, guiding us into a renewed mission of faith and hope.
Crossing the Holy Doors of mercy, we prayed at the tombs of Peter and Paul, stood in the places where martyrs gave witness, and celebrated the Eucharist where saints once walked. These were encounters with the enduring reality of grace. We were also there for the Feast of St. Ignatius, and got to connect to our Jesuit roots, along with young people from Jesuit schools and organizations from all over the world. We also enjoyed the opportunity to gather with other pilgrims from throughout the United States for inspiring talks, prayer and adoration, at the Basilica of St. Paul, Outside the Walls.

In the charity of your prayers, please pray for the repose of the soul of Mr. Joseph Canizaro, who passed to eternal life this past weekend. We are grateful for the many things he did in his life, especially for the Church and people of New Orleans. Grateful for his generosity, we continue our mission of improving the lives and strengthening the faith of our Loyola University community, through the work of the Canizaro Center for Catholic Studies.

On March 30th, Laetare Sunday, we gathered to witness and celebrate a truly sacred and joyful milestone- Fr. Mark’s final vows in the Society of Jesus. Laetare Sunday, a day marked by rejoicing in the midst of Lent, could not have been a more fitting backdrop for this powerful and grace-filled moment.
Surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends, Fr. Mark made his final profession with deep peace and conviction, publicly affirming a life wholly given to God through the Jesuit tradition. The Mass was beautiful- rich in meaning, filled with prayer and gratitude, and a true celebration of God’s faithfulness.
