For Sami Simreen, the EIIS Food & Sustainability Program was an eye-opening experience that reshaped his perspective.
Through collaborative challenges, lively debates, and deep networking, he learned to embrace completely new contexts. The program—highlighted by immersive field trips, from exploring industrial dynamics on a dairy farm to engaging with Michelin-starred chef Cristina Bowerman—allowed him to see the food industry through a new lens. Today, Sami channels this profound awareness into forming strong, passionate opinions and well-rounded expertise.

4,000 people.
From every corner of the world.
In Rome.
This wasn’t a conference.
It was an answer.
At a time when everyone is telling us sustainability is losing ground ,4,000 people showed up anyway. Two days at the Acquario Romano. Conversations that don’t stop when the lights go down.
The EIIS Summit 2026 wasn’t about trends.
It was about direction.
And direction doesn’t wait for political permission.

For a month, billboards across Rome asked people to write a letter to themselves in 2040.
We expected to read about AI, wars, geopolitics. They wrote about mental health and climate.
Hundreds of letters. Median age: 30. The two concerns that kept surfacing weren't technology, sixth on the list at 7%, and they weren't politics, stuck at 3%. They were mental health and climate. One inner, one outer, both at the top.
The generational map made it sharper. Under 25, climate moves to the very top. Over 35, housing edges in alongside mental health. The same orbit, the same body, but a different gravity depending on where you stand in life.
A small linguistic detail mattered as much as the data. When people sat down to write to their future selves, they didn't pick "I want." They picked "I hope." Four out of ten letters opened that way. Their relationship with their own future, told in the language of hope, not will.
We presented the findings at the EIIS Summit (Rome, Acquario Romano, May 8-9), and then two participants joined us on stage to read their letters out loud, with me and (), our creative partner on the project from day one. The room went quiet in a way data alone can't make a room go quiet.
A month ago this was a campaign. Now it's a small portrait of what people actually carry when they think about tomorrow.
What would you write to yourself in 2040?

The final chapter of the Hazelnut Agronomy Program, co-created by EIIS with and , brought participants to Alba for the fourth and final on-site session of the journey.
Set in one of Italy’s most iconic hazelnut territories, the session focused on hazelnut orchard management and agri-food entrepreneurship, combining practical tools, field experience, and real-world case studies to support more resilient and future-ready approaches across the sector.
Because strengthening the future of hazelnut farming also means connecting agronomic expertise with innovation, strategy, and sustainability.
