I dreamed of bringing a new way of working in music education to teachers around the world. I never imagined it would happen in just two years.

I dreamed of working with some of the best facilitators. I never imagined they would also become a team of friends, growing together and taking care of the MTTT students alongside me.

I dreamed of helping music teachers and music therapists not to lose their passion. I never imagined I would see them opening their own studios, creating online courses and developing new projects and collaborations with each other.

MTTT and its students are living proof that what happened to me can happen to you too.

That you can open your own music centre if that’s your dream, just as I did in London. Right Daniela, Chiara, Michele, Monica, Sofia?

That you can travel with your work and create professional collaborations that also become friendships. Right Denise, Sofia, Roberta, Ilaria, Marion, Ines, Francesca?

That you can fall more in love with your work every day, even when you enter MTTT thinking that isn’t possible anymore.

It’s almost impossible to explain what really happens at Music Tree Summer Retreat in a single reel.

Yes, we make music. We move. We improvise. We learn. But that is only the surface.

What truly happens is that teachers begin to meet themselves.

They meet their fears, the parts they’ve been hiding, the stories they’ve been telling themselves for years. But they also discover strengths they didn’t know they had, reconnect with their creativity, and begin to recognise the unique educator they can become.

Every year I watch teachers surprise themselves.

They sing when they thought they couldn’t. They improvise when they believed they needed a script. They take creative risks they never imagined they would. They stop comparing themselves to others and begin to recognise the value of their own voice, their own story, and their own way of teaching.

Before leaving this year, someone said, “See you next summer… actually, hopefully before then.”
Another asked, “Can you bring this to Sydney?” Someone else said, “Next year I’ll tell so many more teachers about this.”

Those words mean everything.

Because the truth is that you cannot understand this retreat by watching videos or scrolling through photos. You have to experience it.
You have to be willing to trust the process, to let yourself be challenged, to support others, and to discover what becomes possible when music, human connection, and cooperation come together.

During our concert on the terrace, I found myself saying something that came straight from my heart:

“I realised this is what I’m meant to do with my life: create these connections.”

Music Tree is still young, but it is growing faster than I ever imagined and I can’t wait to see how many more music teachers it will support to discover not only new ways of teaching, but a deeper sense of who they are - to live a happier and meaningful teaching life.

And this is exactly why retreats are part of MTTT.

Let me give you an example.

J. is a piano teacher.

She had never really sung in her life, let alone improvised.

Her first retreat was shocking. It reopened some wounds, but she didn’t give up.

And now?

Now she composes her own songs for her piano students.

She has learned how to use flexibility and improvisation to support her planning, especially in her preschool musicianship groups.

And even more recently, she has thrown herself into teaching babies - where she will have to sing in front of everyone and facilitate groups of adults.

Not bad, right?

If she had not experienced improvisation — theatrical, vocal and instrumental — inside MTTT, she would never have imagined this kind of teaching for herself.

And there are so many stories like this among MTTT participants.

I love all of them.
All their transformations.
All their beautiful results.

Ma come? Un retreat sull’educazione musicale… che mi fa tornare la voglia di suonare?

Com’è possibile?

Se parliamo di educazione musicale, neuroscienze, psicologia, comunicazione non violenta… come può tutto questo risvegliare anche la mia creatività? Il mio lato artistico?

Perché a Resonance Retreat non esiste una parte teorica e una parte pratica.

La teoria la vivi.

Ogni concetto passa attraverso la musica, il movimento, l’improvvisazione, la circle music, i drum circle, il teatro, il corpo.

Non studiamo la cooperazione.
La sperimentiamo.

Non parliamo di creatività.
La pratichiamo.

Non spieghiamo l’improvvisazione.
Improvvisiamo.

Ed è incredibile quello che succede dopo 3/4 giorni immersi in questo modo di apprendere.

Molte persone che hanno partecipato a Resonance Retreat hanno ricominciato a fare musica per sé.

C’è chi ha ripreso a comporre.

Chi ha iniziato a facilitare gruppi di adulti.

Chi oggi organizza i propri retreat.

Chi ha finalmente trovato il coraggio di uscire dagli schemi della formazione classica per esplorare un modo completamente nuovo di vivere la musica.

E poi ci sono gli insegnanti che musicisti non erano.

Che, proprio grazie a Resonance, si sono innamorati così tanto della musica da iniziare a studiarla con ancora più passione e consapevolezza, portandola ogni giorno nelle loro classi.

Perché questo è ciò che succede quando smetti di imparare sulla musica…

…e inizi a imparare attraverso la musica.

Ormai manca davvero poco… e non stiamo più nella pelle.

Resonance Retreat è il luogo dove creatività, teoria, pazzia e molto divertimento si mescolano per ottenere un cocktail unico.

Insegnanti prima di te hanno rivoluzionato il loro modo di lavorare partendo proprio da questi 4/5 giorni insieme.

Perchè il modo in cui abbiamo disegnato questo ritiro lo rende il luogo che ti permette di riscoprire tanto in te, mentre impari anche tantissime tecniche e strategie di lavoro nell’educazione e facilitazione.

Questa volta ci saranno partecipanti da più di 12 Paesi e noi non vediamo l’ora di iniziare!
